midi event for example all modulation or sustain messages for the duration

Thanks for the feedback. It's Antares Autotune. I use Waves H-Delay, and
Waves Renaissance Reverb all on buses. I use Waves SSL Channel on most of
the tracks for EQ and Compression. Thanks For listening, and please share
the song. I am quite excited to see how far I can go with this release.

Re: feedback needed for Pro Tools 12

2015-03-23 Thread studiojay
Hi Slau, Thanks again for every thing you are doing. My input. I agree with
Gord, it would be cool to change plugin values in larger increments. Also,
it would be nice to be able to read gain reduction meters in compressor
plugins both stock and 3rd party. Also, there are 2 popup menus in the
select-split notes dialog that do not work with voiceover. This dialog is
accessed with option y. Regards, Jason

 Hi John,

Yep, you might have missed the previous reply. Click is definitely an
 issue
that needs to be resolved. For now, all of the parameters are accessible
 via
a control surface. For those who don't have a surface, I'll see if I can
come up with a number of presets to help in the mean time. I'm leaving
 town
this week and will be gone for 2 weeks so it'll be a while.

The status of the Input monitor button is identified by its name.
 VoiceOver
indicates when it's engaged but not when it's not engaged. In other words,
much like a mute button that is off, you'll only hear the name of the
 button
as opposed to hearing that it's in its on state.

 Hope that helps.

 best,

Changing value resolution in plugins.

2015-03-08 Thread studiojay
Hi every one, I've experienced a very strange situation changing values in
plugins in pro tools 11. In some third party plugins, such as waves ssl,
the values were changing in much too small units when interacting and using
the arrows. However, about a month ago, for no reason I could think of, the
values suddenly began changing in better units. For example before the
values in an EQ plugin would change like 0.1, 0.1, 0.1, 0.2, 0.2, etc. They
then started changing 0.5, 1.0, 1.5. The problem is that I just formatted
my system and reinstalled all my software and is has reverted to the
previous behaviour. Can some one please tell me how to change this
behaviour? Thanks in advance for any help. Jason

Hi Slau, The Move Mouse program your friends wrote is fantastic. However, I

1, What keyboard commands are you using in System Prefs to move the mouse

do I just click the add shortcut button and type in a new 1? There is no
confirmation message that the shortcut you typed in has been accepted.
2, How do you check the location of the current position of the mouse so
you can go back to it at a later date?
3, Do you find that Move Mouse is %100 reliable?
Thanks again for all your help.

Instructions for using clip gain.

2014-03-04 Thread studiojay
Hi everyone,
I am very happy to say that clip gain is very accessible. I use it all
the time for nudging vocal phrases up or down instead of automation. I find
it more accurate and it's undoable. Here are step by step instructions.
Under the editing tab of pro tools preferences, interact with clips,
and vo right arrow to clip nudge value, and vo space bar on the actual
value. Press the delete key to clear the current value, then type in the
value in DB that you want such as 2.0
Ok out of preferences, then under the clips sub menu of the view menu, make
sure that clip gain line and clip gain info are both checked. Now you can
use the key commands shift control up arrow and shift control down arrow to
nudge the value up or down. Oh, I forgot to mention that before you can
nudge the value you have to select the region you want to nudge, then press
command E to separate it in to it's own clip.
Also, the commands shift control up and down arrows may be assigned to os
10 commands, so make sure to turn them off in system preferences.
Hope this helps.

 Hi Jason,

Select the audio region that was punched in. While in Slip mode (f2),
press Option-minus on the num pad. This will open up the underlying audio
by the nudge value. So, if your nudge value is 100 milliseconds, the region
start will begin 100 milliseconds earlier. The plus key on the num pad will
move that edge later or to the right. So, Option-plus will reveal more of
the previously recorded audio while Option-minus will reveal more of the
newly recorded audio. Using Command as the modifier will do the same thing
with the end of the selected region. For all of the aforementioned
shortcuts to work, there must be a region selected. Otherwise, the only
thing that's going to happen is that you'll hear auditions of audio based
on pre and post roll value.

Select/split notes window.

2014-01-04 Thread studiojay
Hi everyone, I am having a fantastic time working in PT 11, with several
things I have been waiting for now accessible. Thanks again Slau. However,
I noticed that in the event options/select/split notes window, there are 2
pop up menus that is still not accessible, although the rest of the window
now is. I am hoping that it is a mistake I am making. The way it works is,
once you enter this window, the easiest way being option Y, there are 3
sections, the first being where you can select the note range you want to
split, the second is where you can select velocity range, position etc, and
the third section is the actions section where you have 2 radio buttons 1
for select notes and the other for split notes, then there is a check box
to include all midi data. These are all accessible as well as the apply
button. However, there are also 2 pop up menus which allow you to either
cut or copy in the first menu, and choose between cut to the clip board, or
create new track per pitch and 1 more option that I can't remember right
now. These 2 important menus are not accessible. Can some one please have a
look at this for me and hopefully tell me that I am indeed making a
mistake? Thanks in advance for any help. Jason

Sounding midi notes when tabbing.

2012-06-03 Thread studiojay
Hi every one,
I need some help with the following problem. I have recorded some
midi data on an instrument track. I have the track selected in the
track list table. What I want to do is tab through the midi events on
the track, and have each note sound each time I press the tab key to
copy/delete notes etc. Both in the mix and edit windows, with the
instrument track selected in the track list table, there is no sound
when I press tab, but the counter moves. I know this because when I
press play after pressing tab a few times from the beginning of the
session, the session does not start from the beginning. I have tried
turning tab to transients on and off with no luck. I know this is
possible since Chuck actually showed me this in action on the phone,
but we couldn't figgure out why it's not happening on my system.
Thanks in advance for any help.

A few very basic questions.

2012-04-02 Thread studiojay
Hi every one,
As I use pro tools every day, I am liking it more and more. I am
actually doing professional work in it. However, in jumping around to
find what I need, I am finding that I need to know a few basic things.
1, In the mix window, what are the 2 mix window selecter buttons for?
I know 1 brings up a menu of things, but I can't figure what the other
is for?

2. If I solo a few audio or instrument traks, then from the track
list pop up menu choose to show only aux tracks, the audio and
instrument tracks I had soloed become unsoloed as I am taken in to the
aux tracks. Is there any way to keep them soloed?
3, If I write a pass of automation such as a fade out using write
mode, when the automation is playing back, the level jumps back up
after the automation? As far as I know, this should only happen in
touch mode?
4, Every once in a while, when interacting with a track, I loose many
items such as track input, output, volume etc and the only items
visible are incerts, sends, comments and 1 more field which I can't
remember right now. I have to close and reopen the file to see all of
the fields again?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I have a set of incredible plugins from rob papin, most importantly predator

I have tried some methods for accessing different areas of an interface voice

xy coordinate and click on the element.

This however is really not the best implementation as it requires a lot of
data punching for all the elements on the screen.

I was wondering if your brother was interested in getting hired lol for a bit
to implement a quikeys accessibility frame for those plugins. Name the price
 and i will consider it.

My idea here is to showcase the accessibility to predator which can first
hand show them how it should work, and their engineers can then have all the
precognitive assets such as a working demo, my own research and articles on
implementing this with the coco framework, and other tidbits.

They have already expressed interest in making this possible, but so far i
just need to be able to map certain paremeter sliders to my midi controller.

Let me know if we can do something

Re: 9.0.3 is out

2011-05-30 Thread studiojay
Hi Slau,
Just wondering weather you had a chance to install 9.03? And if
so, any good news? If not, do you think any work will be done with
regards to accessibility in the near future? I am considering selling
my sonar system and purchasing a second mac and pro tools system.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Version 9.0.3 is out, certainly for HD and, most likely, the regular version
as well. I haven't looked at it yet and won't have a chance to update until
this afternoon but I doubt we'll see any changes regarding accessibility in
this update. that said, I think it's time to follow up and see what's doin'
 at avid.

It's the full version of structure containing several hundred presets.
I will drop box them later today.

Re: note editing?

 Hi Yuma,

Note editing is only accessible by scrubbing with a scrub/shuttle wheel. The
MIDI Event List is not yet accessible. If you have a control surface, scrub
to the note then hold shift while scrubbing over the note to select it.

Alternatively, once you've scrubbed or shuttled within a track, you can use
the Tab key to move to each subsequent note. Pressing Shift+Tab at that point
 will select the next note.

 HTH for now,

  Hi list again,

I've gone through quite a few things now in Pt, and honestly i freakin love
  it :)

As usual though when one goes through a new set of tools, windows and
panes, i've been having some hurdles.

So maybe to set things straight right here and now, i got two burning
questions which could, in practice, greatly improve my experience in pt.

  1-Note editing:
Let's say i've laid down some midi notes over 8 bars, and i'd like to make
some changes note by note. Following the pt intro doc, i can make the pen
selection, change edit view to grid, and set the ruler to beats/bars.
However, when i go into my track in the main edit window, i can't find any
grid for changing manually the midi notes i entered with my controller. IS
this something that's not accessible yet?

2- How is track selection made? I actually go into the track cluster, and
my setup presently has 3 tracks. 2 instruments and 1 metronome or click
track. I can see there is a list of three tracks, but vo tells me blank for
all of them. Pressing does seem to do something, but when i vo right back
to the track, its still the same one.

I know it's probably a newbie request here, and i apologize for this
newbieish attitude, but you know when you got a new toy and want to go as
far as sanity can in one go? Well that's what i've been going through :)

Hope someone can shed some light

  Best regards,

  Yuma

 Hi Slau,
Once you select the note, can you do the following? Delete it?
change it's value example c to b or c sharp? Change it's velocity?
Change it's duration? Thanks a lot.

Ready for hands on help.

Hi every one,
Well, I received my mac and pro tools last Friday, and after 3
intense days of learning V.O. I think I am ready to hit pro tools. In
the confrence last Tuesday, with Chuck, Jr and Vini, Some one offered
to walk me through my first session. I can't remember who it was, so
if the offer still stands, can you please contact me off list at
overdriverecord...@gmail.com to set up time. Also, I have 2 good
sources of sighted help, so once I am up, I will be able to offer some
help in labling presets etc for all of us. Thanks in advance, and I am
really excited to get started.

Did I waste $500?

2011-03-03 Thread studiojay
Hi every one,
I bought the instrument expansion pack, hoping to use all of the
sampled stuff in structure. However, after browsing this list, I am
realising that there is no access to this plug-in. Are there any work
arounds in the works? Or is it $500 wasted? Also, how about the other
plug-ins in the instrument expansion pack? Boom? Strike? Velvet?
Highbrid? Can some one please give a quick overview on the
accessibility of these? And finally, can you select the presets in the
plug-ins that ship with Pro Tools's such as the compressors, eq's
reverb delays etc? Is there a convolution reverb that ships with Pro
Tools? Thanks in advance for any help.

Highering an Avid engineer for a couple weeks.

2011-03-03 Thread studiojay
Hi every one,
I was thinking, what's the possibility of all of us putting
together to higher an avid engineer for a couple weeks to fast track a
few issues for us such as, 1. Making the midi editor accessible. 2.
Finding some way for us to have access to structure. 3. Finding a way
for us to access the quantise parameters, strength, swing etc when
recording midi tracks. 4. Getting access to the buttons that are not
accessible in certain plug-ins. If for example 10 of us put up $200,
will it be enough to get an engineer on our side for 2 weeks? I think
a lot may be able to get done in 2 weeks. Please chime in if you all
think that this is a good idea. And if so, can some one please suggest
how we may be able to get the ball roling?

Mac, Pro Tools first steps.

2011-03-01 Thread studiojay
Hi every one,
Well after some great advice from Chuck and Kevin, I purchased
the following.
1. MacBook pro, 13.3 inch dual core i7, 4 gb ram, 500 gig hard drive.
2. Pro tools 9 software.
3. Pro tools instrument expansion pack.
I should receive every thing in a few days. I am using the waiting
time to learn every thing I can about voice over online. However,
although I know pc's and sonar quite well, I won't know where to begin
when I get pro tools. I don't even know how to install software on a
mac. Can some one please advise me on what to do once I open the bran
new boxes containing my new gear? Also, what happens as soon as I
launch Pro tools for the first time? Thanks in advance for any help.

Quickest way to get up and running.

2011-02-26 Thread studiojay
Hi Every 1,
I am ready to make the switch from sonar to a new mac and pro
tools. I am ready to purchase every thing I need this weekend.
However, it's quite tedious browsing through all the topics on this
list for all the info I need. I have heard many times that pro tools
isn't as accessible as sonar, but I am willing to live with that as I
feel pretty sure that things will quickly improve. I would like if
some 1 can chat with me on the phone about what I can realistically
expect. Can I do projects from start to end? I run a professional
studio,, and I have to make the switch in a very short space of time.
What do I need to buy, Which version of pro tools 9? can I use the
plug-ins in pro tools? reverbs, delays, compressors e qs etc? How
about the software instruments that come with pro tools, are they
accessible? How about hardware I have such as my motif xs rack,
kurzweil pc3 etc? Can I assign the banks and paches in pro tools like
the instrument definitions in sonar? I would appreciate any replies on
this topic. Also, if any 1 is willing to have a chat with me, can you
please e-mail me at overdriverecord...@gmail.com with a phone number
and a good time to call.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thr real scoop on midi.

2011-02-26 Thread studiojay
Hi every one,
I am always hearing that midi is not so good in pro tools, and
even more, that access to midi is even worst. Can some one please give
me the real scoop? Can I do the following with voice over and pro
tools 9? 1, Record midi tracks, using both the internal soft synths
that ship with pro tools, as well as hardware synths for example my
motif, pc3 etc.
2. Can I use basic functions such as quantize, swing, transpose set
volume and pan for midi tracks, scale velocitys etc?
3. Can I select banks and patches on my hardware synths using pro
tools? Thanks in advance for any help.
