playlists
A little confused about something. If I have two or more tracks in a edit group, I had to go to each individual track in order to change playlists? I don't understand. I am missing something. HF
audio IO
How do I make them appear in the edit window? I made an aux track yesterday and they were exactly where I thought they would be. Then I inserted a stereo track and instead of of the audio IO I had comments. I was able to get to the Audio IO when interacting with the track in the mix window. Is this normal or am I missing something again? HF
Re: playlists
When you first create a group, I thought by default that they were already active so I didn't check. I'll check next time. Re: audio IO
Hey Herman, If I understand your question, you're asking about displaying I/O paths in the edit window. You can set your preferences for what the Mix and Edit windows display in the menu bar under the submenu that says something like, Mix Window Shows… and Edit Window Shows… I'm not at the studio right now so I don't have Pro Tools in front of me and can't give you a precise location for that submenu. Alas, as soon as I install Pro Tools 9, I'll be able to answer questions like this from anywhere. My, how the world has changed, eh? :) Best, Slau On Nov 16, 2010, at 8:28 AM, HF wrote: How do I make them appear in the edit window? Re: playlists
True—upon creation, a group is active. Perhaps, for some strange reason, it was made inactive. Hmm… let's see what you find. RE: audio IO
Are they using iLok for PT9 now? I always feel very uncomfortable with taking it places. If it doesn't get lost or damaged, it is an extremely easy to swipe target when sticking out of the side of a laptop. If I were showing it at a trade show, for example, I'd have to have it on the far end of a very long USB extention cord. If you lose your iLok, they will not replace it and your licenses. Official recommendation is to take out an insurance policy for it. Re: audio IO
Yep, iLok has been the standard since 2002. I have my iLok connected to a hub on the HD system but it's true that with a laptop, it's a bit different. Apart from the theft issue, I don't keep it hanging off the laptop itself but rather off of a qwerty keyboard. That said, if it's on a desktop, the laptop is never so close to the edge that the iLok is extended out beyond the table in mid air. Still, it can be an issue under certain circumstances. For people really traveling around a lot and worried about losing it, yeah, the insurance thing is probably a good idea. I've had mine since 2002 and traveled with it many times with no problem. Of course, I'm ultra aware of its whereabouts at all times, needless to say ;) Slau On Nov 16, 2010, at 12:46 PM, Bryan Smart wrote: Are they using iLok for PT9 now? Re: audio IO
As am I, at this point. LOL I usually don't have any I/O settings showing in the Edit window and, by default, I don't believe I/O is showing in the edit window. At any rate, I'm not sure why it appears to be inconsistent for you. Both tracks I inserted were different types but share that common denominator. So I was a bit confused. Hi Try hitting page up in the 6 pack. Sometimes the window gets moved down at least from my sighted friends observations. After page up the view gets clearer it seems to pull the track info up.. Re: audio IO
Good point. Maybe the I/O simply wasn't visible because of a scroll issue. Again, if the view was set to something like jumbo or extreme or something like that, it might've hidden something.
