[Pulp-dev] Katello/Pulp 3 integration meeting notes

2020-07-15 Thread David Davis

Pulp

   -

   Core
   -

  Import/export natural-keys work merged (pulpcore and pulp_file)
  -

Pulpcore 3.5 went out on Thursday
  -

Pulpcore 3.6 tentatively scheduled for Aug 11th, pending additional
discussion at open floor this Friday July 17th.
  -

   RPM
   -

Natural keys work will be merged post-3.5 branch
  -

Remaining entities being added for import/export (kickstarts,
  advisory-related models) (aiming for 3.6)
  -

Sync is fixed for RHEL8 repos https://pulp.plan.io/issues/5847
  -

  DistributionTree, upcoming fixes/adjustments
  -

In Pulp 3 it’s tied to a repository, so each repository will have
its own DistributionTree even if they are the same.
 -

There can be no orphaned DistributionTree. If DistributionTree is
removed from a repo, it’s removed from Pulp as well (content
of a main repo
 stays).
 -

When copied, all the content from the main repo is copied as well,
 always.
 -

Need a way to copy a DistributionTree without RPMs to allow
filtering to happen
-

 Any concerns?
 -

   Migration
   -

https://pulp.plan.io/issues/7092 - dalley is on it
  -

https://pulp.plan.io/issues/6950 - ttereshc is on it
  -

Since a DistributionTree is tied to a repository, we have a
similar situation to an advisory. One pulp2 distribution can become
multiple DistributionTrees in pulp3. So expect pulp2content/
to have a repo
 version for DistributionTrees as well.
 -

  https://pulp.plan.io/issues/7093 - fixed

   Core
   -

New release for 3.4.1 with requirements.txt
  -

  Import/export
  -

 Move to natural keys continues
 -

Discussion around how to handle import split archives
 -

Tentatively have Katello handle it so they check using checksums
-

   Katello including pulp_ansible upstream?
   -

Feeling is yes but need to figure out use cases (ie how will a user
  use this feature?)
  -

Next step: jsherrill schedule a follow up to discuss

Katello

   -

Yum migration work, hitting issues as part of our integration testing (
   https://pulp.plan.io/issues/6887, ina is looking)
   -

Main Cert guard PR is merged, capsule work is ongoing. Still getting
   installer/packaging bits into nightly
   -

Yum copy (cv w/ filters) close to being merged
   -

Will work on moving to 3.4
