This works for libfacter because it is a shared object and the function can be undefined (resolved at load time). This just happens to work because libnsl was loaded via another dependency when facter runs. For libfacter_test, this can't work. We should be specifying libnsl to link against. Note that with future parser there are two features that help mitigate the problems with leaking defaults:
local defaults (they override the defaults per type)
splat of attribute/values
some_type {
default: * = $defaults_array;

}
It is possible to splat a hash both for the local defaults (a literal default title), and in a regular resource body (not shown in the example).

Our masters run Apache 2.4 with KeepAlive (with an appropriate timeout with a good margin), and were configured to use mod_reqtimeout with default request timeouts. There seems to be an interesting interaction between KeepAlive and reqtimeout which causes some strangeness and can result in connections dropping. I never saw any substantial delays in the logs (certainly nothing near the configured timeouts), and I did find a reference to this on the Apache bug tracker. https://bz.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=56729 We've disabled reqtimeout for now to prevent this cropping up. Testing HTTP connections looks to be moderately difficult as it appears to require examining the internal state of HTTP, and possibly making at least a non-blocking read for at least one byte from the underlying socket - this results in either Errno::EAGAIN (if there's no data), or EOFError (if the socket was closed by the server). UUIDs stored as strings are about 36 bytes, and are 16 bytes stored as the native type. Hashes are 40 bytes as characters, but only 20 has a bytea field. In the testing I did, it looks like you can just cast the UUID string as a uuid and it just does the right thing. For the bytea field there a nice hexadecimal shorthand, just prefix the hash string with a \x and Postgres interprets it as a binary hexadecimal string. Add Comment

I have a branch here: https://github.com/wkalt/puppetdb/tree/maint/master/backport-terminus-to-3.4.3 that should let ops run a current PDB against a 3.4.3 master. They want the following setup essentially: PDB 1: their current, old PDB that is not exposed for internal use PDB 2: a new, unexposed PDB that will run with PDB 1 and do anonymized exports on a cron job PDB 3: a new PDB that will import the exports from PDB 2 and will be exposed for company use PE Puppet master: talks to PDB 1 and PDB 2 Ken has a tool called dark-loader-proxy which is meant for this.
