I want to define users, and then I want to define their groups based on which software is deployed. I usually don't know those two pieces up front which is why I can't do everything at once. Additionally, since we are using centrify many times the user doesn't even exist yet until the first login. I was on 1.2.1 before, upgraded concat to 1.2.5 and got the same issue, then tried 2.0.1 as an experiment and still got the same behavior. Safe to assume that concat is not the issue I think. The problem It should not fail because operatingsystem fact is provided to the puppetmaster in a yaml fact for that node. Here is the command I use to compile the catalog:{code}/home/roidelapluie/dev/ruby/bin/puppet master --modulepath=../puppet/modules --environmentpath=src/test/resources/environment --node_terminus=exec --external_nodes=/tmp/pytest-of-roidelapluie/pytest-8/test_cpu_dependent_parameters_0/enc.sh --yamldir=/tmp/pytest-of-roidelapluie/pytest-8/test_cpu_dependent_parameters_0/yaml --logdest=/tmp/pytest-of-roidelapluie/pytest-8/test_cpu_dependent_parameters_0/yaml/catalog-fadel.stammwuckert.biz-log.json --compile=fadel.stammwuckert.biz{code}I attach the /tmp/pytest-of-roidelapluie/pytest-8/test_cpu_dependent_parameters_0/yaml/facts/fadel.stammwuckert.biz.yaml to thit ticket. Release Notes Summary:
Calling {{hiera}} interpolation method from within a hiera.yaml caused infinite reqursion. This was fixed by making it an error to se {{hiera}} method in interpolation in hiera.yaml. Also, the use of other interpolation methods in hiera.yaml will now yield a deprecation warning as those will not be allowed in hiera 4.0.

works well with both:
