Marking this as requiring PUP-1077, Move Nagios types and supporting from core to a module. There are quite a few bugs and feature requests open against the nagios types, and it seems to be known (at least within the community) to need major work. It seems like moving it out of core and making it a module would be the first step to getting this done.

According to the puppet type definition docs until 3.1 puppet Nagios types do not seem to be able to handle custom macros in Nagios object definitions like __WARN in the following example:
define service { use template host_name host __WARN 1 }
Please add a parameter which allows to specify custom macro/value pairs. Thank you!
