I'd hoped to be able to synthesize this all into one key, but I'm not sure if that would make sense. If we were going with two keys, the former would make sense as a simple boolean, and the latter as a string. My first thought was "hostname.fully.qualified.domain:port". So the keys may be something like: agent_failed_over => true/false master => "hostname.fully.qualified.domain:port" # this one would make sense regardless of whether HA is in use, but this name may conflict with an existing key Naming is hard (and these are probably bad names), so I'd suggest talking to Jorie Tappa and/or Nicholas Fagerlund about how best to name these new keys and their possible states. The report should specify both whether agent-side failover occurred and if it did, which master was successfully used. The information that needs to be conveyed:* Did failover occur?* If so, which master was successfully used?* Which masters were provided to use? (the {{server_urls}} list) From Russ:We're adding a 'producer' key to the report, to be synthesized in the puppetdb terminus, so we can tell if failover happened in a Simple HA setup. But the agent has a much better, more consistent perspective on this; something like 'failover' or 'the master I actually used' or similar could be useful.
