With a mix, there is a risk that data files ends up being used both by classic hiera / global and in lookup with the effect that the hiera implementation will win - when doing deep merges this may produce strange effects in addition to being slower. We need to show the correct way of converting env by env. As a user of classic hiera (v3), I need a well-documented path to migrating to lookup (v5) without having to modify my existing hiera data and without unexpectedly getting different results so that I take the first step to adopting puppet lookup without a ton of effort.*Context:* Many busy puppet users already use classic hiera, have a ton of classification and data for it and their business will not tolerate unexpected breakages. For these reasons, they should be able to quickly and safely be able to take the first step in puppet lookup adoption without minimal effort and risk. That first step being adapting their existing {{hiera.yaml}} configuration file to {{lookup.conf}}.
