For values that are not simple variables, it puts a placeholder value in the string that needs to be manually replaced with a meaningful name for the value that goes in that spot. This will make things much clearer for translators. Ruby fills in interpolated values in strings before passing those strings to gettext to use as translation keys. Therefore we cannot use `#{}` interpolation in externalized strings, but must instead use Ruby's string formatting syntax.
For example:
_("My name is #{name} and my cat is #{get_cat_name("Maggie")})
must become
_("My name is %{name} and my cat is %{cat_name}") % { name: "Maggie", cat_name: get_cat_name("Maggie") }
