Re: [PVE-User] One VM won't backup

2016-01-03 Thread Daniel Bayerdorffer
Just a quick update to let everyone know how I solved this issue.

It turns out one of the previous backup attempts left some corrupt files on the
backup target. Once I manually deleted those, the backup worked perfectly.

Thanks to everyone for their help,
Daniel

I will try shutting it down and doing a backup then. It will have to wait for
after business hours.

Hi Gilberto,

There is a big difference in size. The one that is failing is about 80GB, the
others are around 2-3GB. However the big one (VM101) was working even at this
size for several weeks. The connection is Giga Ethernet.

Could there be some sort of leftover file lock or something that I need to
disable? Because as the log file shows, it doesn't even start copying data.

Thanks,
Daniel

Can you tell us, how the size of each backup and VM image file?
Perhaps, the CIFS protocol has some bottleneck regard file size or something
like that.
How about the network connection between PVE and samba server?? Is it fast or
giga ethernet??

Hi Gilberto and Lindsay,

The remote backup is samba. I have two other VM's that backup just fine to it.
And this VM was backing up just fine, it stopped working a couple weeks ago.

The local storage is a hardware raid controller on the same machine as Proxmox.

Thanks for your help,
Daniel

Dumb question - how do you do this?

I tried setting SCSI Controller type to virtio and adding the drive with
SCSI bus, but SCSI doesn't seem to be supported for boot drives in the
SeaBIOS.

Hi,
There is one step to Update repository and system by running:
apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade
My solution is just replace this step's commands with following :

apt-get clean

apt-get update

aptitude safe-upgrade --full-resolver

And then go on with proxmox how-to instructions.
