Try it in a Python interpreter; you should find that, when you halve
two, you get one. (I'm not sure whether that question was designed for
Python 2, where you'd get the integer 1, or Python 3, where you'd get
the float 1.0; but they should both be equal anyway.)

No probs! You should have full editing access.

Be sure to give fair listings to everyone - the page should not be
seen to promote one book above another. The easiest way is to simply
copy one of the other entries and modify it to have the details for
your book.

Hi! I don't think you need OpenID - a simple username and password
should be sufficient. You should be able to create an account without
our help, and then you can ask us to empower the account to make
edits. (Don't forget to include your user name!)

We generally ask people to identify a specific page or edit that
they're planning to do, as that's something that spambots seem unable
to adequately do :)

Hi! Welcome. Normally we ask people to identify a page they're asking
to edit, and I'll be honest, it's a remarkably effective way to keep
spambots out of the editorship. So how about this: Name any page that
you think you might be interested in editing, and that'll prove that
you're a real person :)

2022-04-26 Thread Chris Angelico
To other pydotorg members: If they do, I'd be inclined to link to
that, rather than all the individuals. Normally I would consider that
a book is by its author, not its publisher, but it's always been Packt
who ask for listings, not the individual authors, so it seems that
they themselves consider the publisher more significant than the
author.

Packt is... prolific. There has been a bit of a history of them
overloading the books pages, to the exclusion or dominance of other
publishers. Right now, for instance, searching for "packt" in
AdvancedBooks shows 249 results; each one has two links, and searching
the raw page for "[[" (to find all the links) shows 517 results. I
haven't done a full check, but these figures make it look like there
might be circa two dozen non-Packt entries on that page, and ten times
that number of Packt entries.

I'm concerned that the books pages are becoming nothing more than
Packt listing pages. Thoughts?
