No, this is definitely a change in PyQt, or at least sip, cf. https://github.com/matplotlib/matplotlib/pull/17565 https://github.com/matplotlib/matplotlib/pull/17600 The fix is 'easy', but you need to find everywhere that might trigger it. QSize takes an int now, as it does in Qt (from C++), instead of coercing a float. Python 3.10 also contains a change where you can no longer pass floats to extension modules in cases where there would a loss of precision (e.g., as an int).
