About the scheme field it says (section 3.1): Although schemes are case- insensitive, the canonical form is lowercase and documents that specify schemes must do so with lowercase letters. An implementation should accept uppercase letters as equivalent to lowercase in scheme names (e.g., allow "HTTP" as well as "http") for the sake of robustness but should only produce lowercase scheme names for consistency. Hostname is also (obviously) case insensitive. There's also a section (6.2.3) which talks about normalization of URIs. [PATCH for-9.1 6/9] block/nbd: Use URI parsing code from glib
Since version 2.66, glib has useful URI parsing functions, too. Use those instead of the QEMU-internal ones to be finally able to get rid of the latter.
