Re: [Qgis-community-team] Google Season of Docs Tech Writers

2019-04-12 Thread Cameron Shorter

Adding to Matteo's comments:

1. Yes, as this initiative is only a pilot, Google is only financially
supporting a max of 1 or 2 people per project, and many projects won't
get anything.

2. However, I think it is likely we will get one of these spots because
I think we can demonstrate that we have a broad community of volunteers
prepared to help out. (Adding your name and proposed involvement will
help strengthen our case).

3. We can all contribute as volunteers, and this initiative provides a
great focal point for us all to rally around. I hope you will join us.

Email list is at https://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/seasonofdocs

Hi guys and girls,

as you might know, I'm involved in the Google Season of doc. Thanks to
Cameron Shorter (in CC) that is leading the proposal, we have discussed
deeply and have reached some aims.

If anybody is interested in becoming a tech writer for the proposal (we
are not too optimistic about how many "places" we can have), please
share a short biography here.

[Qgis-community-team] Google season of docs

2019-03-12 Thread Andreas Neumann
Hi all,

Here is some opportunity to get more funds for QGIS documentation:

https://opensource.googleblog.com/2019/03/introducing-season-of-docs.html

Google would fund, depending on the country of the participants,
somewhere between 3k and 6.6k per accepted participant.

Possible projects: Update of Python cookbook, more updates to training
manual, processing, certain new chapters in the manual - others?

See also

@Matteo: would you be able to submit a proposal to Google?

Thanks a lot,
