Had the same problem with Linux Mint 14.
Your .qgis2 folder is owned by root after installation, so you have to
give ownership back to your user for the folder/subfolders and files.

Re: [Qgis-developer] QGIS 2.0 and GRASS integration on OSX and Windows

2013-09-25 Thread Andreas Neumann
Hi,

I did more testing and it seems that on Windows, both 32bit and 64bit
versions are fine if I install from OSGeo4W. However, both fail if I
install from the standalone installer. This is in line with what other
people discovered.

Running, QGIS as administrator does not help in my case.

According to Jürgen both come from the same sources, so it is really a
myth why the standalone installer does not support GRASS in processing,
and OSGeo4W does support it.

Maybe there is some missing dependency in the standalone installer? The
standalone installer probably does not include all packages that can be
selected in the OSGeo4W installer?

 Hi Andreas,

as pointed in the past days in another thread it seems that in the
qgis 2.0 standalone installers for Windows GRASS/processing is not
working. SAGA/processing it is also not working but in this case SAGA
does not seems included at all.

They both work if QGIS is installed with osgeo4w.

[Qgis-developer] connecting new style CUSTOM signal to existing Qgis object in Qgis2.0

2013-09-25 Thread Jeff Cavner
For Python plugin development how do you connect a custom signal using the
new style of signals and slots to a PyQgis object, specifically to
QgsProject.instance()? Having a hard time with this given the pyqtSignal
is defined as a python Class static variable, and then bound using
self.###.connect etc. Is there a way to create custom signals in the new
style for objects that you don't necessarily have access to their
constructor, like for existing Qgis objects?

Additionally I noticed that from the python console in Qgis 2.0, the old
style of signals still work (connected to QgsProject) I compiled 2.0 from
source for Ubuntu, and am running both 1.8 and 2.0. But 2.0 doesn't seem
to complain about old style signals at the python console, was wondering if
it is sharing the 1.8 version of PyQt with v.1 sip, and that is what is
causing it not to complain.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
