[Qgis-developer] Change selection color

2014-02-04 Thread hubbatov
Hi! I can`t change selection color using Qt in my app. Can anybody help with
it?
QgsMapCanvas::mapRenderer()->rendererContext()->setSelectionColor(QColor)
not works :(

P.S. Also it would be awesome if you tell me how to set selection color and
selection border via Qt...

Thanks!

[Qgis-developer] Digitizing icons

2014-02-04 Thread Alexander Bruy
Hi all,

as mentioned by Robert [0], seems we have many similar digitizing icons
(e.g. polygon related). See for example this thread at SE [1] or just look at
advanced digitizing toolbar in QGIS.

Maybe it is time to make them more clear? Opinions?

[Qgis-developer] Access labels properties from python?

2014-02-04 Thread Régis Haubourg
Hi there,
I would like to explore the possibilities to extend EasyCustomLabeling to
handle correctly curved labeling on lines, and maybe also labeling on the
border of polygons.
My idea is to make PAL engine compute curved labels, get label path and
convert it to a linestring, a sort of label path.
Is there any way in the python API to access label properties once computed
by PAL? If not, does C++ API allows that?
Thanks for your hints.
Cheers
Régis

[Qgis-developer] Oracle layers - improving the speed

2014-02-04 Thread Jonathan Moules
Hi List,
The native Oracle provider has been in QGIS for quite a while (a year?) and
is generally quite good.

However there are still two fundamental issues that we have with it, both
as a result of the fact that Oracle doesn't store accurate spatial metadata:

a) Whenever I "Connect" to the Oracle database, QGIS performs a scan of
every table to get the metadata which can take almost 2 minutes (the
results are cached by Oracle and subsequent "Connects" are faster, but only
for an hour or two). This is using the "Only look in metadata table", "use
estimated table metadata" and "only existing geomtetry types" checkboxes.
See also - http://hub.qgis.org/issues/8689

b) When I add a specific Oracle table, QGIS then performs some checks
against it (I believe trying to find the actual BBOX). This is fine for
small tables, but for large tables it can take several minutes for the
layer to get added - locking up QGIS in the interim - even if "render" is
disabled!
The issue becomes even more problematical when re-opening a project - QGIS
then rescans all of the tables included in the project which can mean a
several minute delay after opening the project.

None of the other GIS-y systems we have have this problem. ArcMap and
MapInfo solve it by having their own metadata tables that we have to
manually maintain :-( . FME solves it by... well I don't know how (not
separate metadata tables).

So my question is - is there any development work that can be done on the
QGIS end to speed either of these things up? Ticket 8689 linked above has a
couple of my thoughts, but I'm sure the list can come up with better
suggestions.

Any thoughts? Particularly item (b). We're willing to consider sponsoring
these particular changes as we're heavy Oracle users, hence me asking. :-)

Thanks,
Jonathan

Marco, thanks for your answer.
I think it could be very useful for many clients building on top of QGIS
Server to have such informations:

My quick proposal is to add:

Layer properties:
 * layer type
 * geometry type
 * source geometry SRID
 * primary key
 * layer transparency
 * layers group membership

and for Project:
* project title
* selection color
* background colors
* project scales
* canvas units
* precision

Do you think it is a good idea to add this informations to that
GetCapabilities-like XML response ?

Re: [Qgis-developer] QGIS GetProjectSettings request

2014-02-04 Thread Marco Hugentobler

Hi Ivan

The idea of the GetProjectSettings is that the output is easily
extendeable (because it is a non-standard method). So if there is some
project information you think is usefull for your webclient, just add it
to the code and I'm happy to apply pull requests in that respect.
It is not the idea of GetProjectSettings to serve all project

For example, in order to get the layer name and use it in the code, I use:

Is there something to get the layer path and directory name?

QGis 2.0 brings a regression, it put all the primary keys to null...
Denis 's workaround to add a serial to the table and a constraint (unique not
null) to the explicit primary key is not a solution for us.

We have a lots of tables that are used not only with QGis...
Changing all the tables just because QGis 2.0 needs a non-standard feature is
a pain.
And QGis 1.7.4 was doing this copy/paste job fine.

However, this is a QGis 2.0 pb and not a postgis pb.
I will continue on the QGis List

Hi,

QGIS prevent to overwrite the primary key field when it copies/pastes,
this is why it leaves the field empty.
One way would be to add the constraint after the copy/paste if it's for
a single shot.
Otherwise, just add a unique constraint on f1 and add a serial as
primary key.

Cheers,

Denis

Just come across a nice symbol set:

Re: [Qgis-developer] Digitize curves

Hi Radim
For smoothing lines you can use v.generalize tool from GRASS GIS or
Generalizer plugin (which is based on v.generalizer).
This is not automagic hoverer
