[Qgis-developer] My personal introduction to the mailing list. Hi everyone, I'm Eduardo
Greetings to all I want to send this mail to properly introduce myself to this mailing list My name is Eduardo Rojas Rodríguez and I am from Costa Rica recently admitted to work for SOLTIG (current sponsor and Commercial support for QGIS in Costa Rica) and I want to introduce myself to the community. We have made great strides to promote the adoption of the use of QGIS in Costa Rica and part is that we would like to get closer to the entire community of users and developers to be more in contact with each other. Within SOLTIG I am currently in charge of promoting and strengthening the link with the QGIS community in general so you all are likely to be seeing me posted on this mailing list and in the user list. Our goal is to contribute and help the community and to promote the use of QGIS and Free and open-source software in our region. As a personal note, I want to express my happiness to work from SOLTIG with you on this project, I declare myself a fan of all of you developers, I have been a follower and supporter of the project since I studied Geography at the University of Costa Rica, personally I tried to contribute to the project with donations and in any crowd funding I see. Thank you all and I hope we will be in touch. [Qgis-developer] Bugs on mapinfo tab files editing
Hi, I little while ago I reported two bugs (16451 and 16449) regarding the corruption of Mapinfo tab files when they are edited in QGIS (it happens very single time and for every single file). We used to do all our work using Mapinfo, so all our data is maintained in that format. We are currently trying hard to move everything to QGIS, but this bug with mapinfo files has been an important deterrent for us. This brings me to a few questions: - Fixing bugs like that are a priority in the QGIS development? - How can we (as a company) assist in resolving those bugs? [Qgis-developer] Announcing crowd funding campaign for composer rewrite and reporting framework
Hi all, I'm proud to announce the launch of North Road's latest QGIS crowd funding campaign: the "QGIS Layout and Reporting Engine Campaign". This campaign covers stage 1 of a large, ongoing project to modernise and expand on QGIS’ print composer and layout facilities. Over time QGIS’ composer functionality has grown extensively and now is capable of creating flexible, high quality cartographic outputs. However, we’ve now hit a limit where the current code architecture is prohibiting further improvements and important fixes. In order to add a reporting framework to QGIS, it is necessary for us to refactor and improve large sections of the composer code. You can read more about the campaign and what we're planning at https://north-road.com/2017/04/26/qgis-composer-rewrite-and-layout-engine-crowdfund-launched/ Please reshare this link via social media, your local user groups, etc - the more exposure we get the more likely this is to be successful!
