Hi,
I mentioned that Ubuntu users cannot open tiffs anymore, on the dev
mailing list 2 days ago [1].
Let's hope someone there knows how to solve this!

So my question is how can i fix this?

here with Ubuntu 10.04 32bit and the ubuntugis repository
(qgis 1.6) no
problems.
I added a bunch of overviews before opening the raster file,
in any case
no crashes.
On the other hand I have problems opening rasters (not only
yours) if I
upgrade to trunk with the nightly builds repository. But this
is
probably caused by a mix of libraries from the standard ubuntu
repository and the ubuntugis one.
