nella versione QGIS 3.0 non riesco a trovare Open Layer Plugin... ha 
cambiato nome? oppure è stato sostituito con qualche altro plugin? 
oppure semplicemente io non so dove trovarlo?

non concordo: uso Debian Sid da 10 anni, e i problemi significativi sono
eccezionalmente rari (2 volte in tutto il periodo).

concordo, l'utente normale non dovrebbe avere necessità di compilare.
ovviamente il poterlo fare è un enorme vantaggio, e seguendo le
istruzioni con attenzione è un processo perfettamente fattibile, ma
risolvere i possibili problemi non è comunque banalissimo.

Ccing to community as i'm convinced that is a big issue that the community 
needs to clearly know. Sometimes i wonder what happens if one day there's no 
more User manual (and i'm afraid it comes if things do not evolve): people will 
surely read blog post, social media, forum, mailing-list... but i'm sure, and i 
may be wrong, that not all the fantastic features will be exposed and i'm not 
sure a project without a User manual looks sustainable or serious.

(https://qgis.org/en/site/forusers/visualchangelog30/index.html). Go give it a 
look, find a feature, improve its summary (should not always be required) and 
propose it for merge in user manual(/Cookbook/Training manual) . And that's

In v2 I set the page size first using the Print Composer > Composition tab >
Page Size (e.g. A4 landscape). I then add my template of the correct size.
In v3 there does not seem to be a composition tab. Under the new Layout tab,
there doesn't appear to be anywhere to add the page size and orientation?
Does this now have to be done in the Composer > Page Setup option?

Confermo anch'io che GRASS 7.4.0 (e non QGIS) raddoppia alcune curve che non si 
chiudono all'interno del DEM (non tutte e non capisco il perché). Ho usato un 
mio DEM, non quello di Totò. All'interno del DEM le curve non sono raddoppiate.
Il problema del raddoppiamento non si verifica né con il modulo di SAGA usato 
dentro QGIS 2.18.17 e 3.0 (Contour lines) né con quello di QGIS 
(Raster-Estrazione-Curve di livello).

Confermo anch'io il problema (con GRASS 7.4.0 provato sia su QGIS 2.18 che
3.0); succede per la curve che dovrebbero interrompersi al bordo del DEM ed
invece tornano indietro per gli stessi vertici creando linee doppie. Invece
per le curve che si chiudono regolarmente all'interno del DEM il raddoppio
non avviene.
Praticamente GRASS crea sempre linee chiuse anche quando non dovrebbero
esserlo.

PS:
1) sono andato a vedere vecchie curve di livello che avevo creato con GRASS
6.4.3 da QGIS 2.8.6 e questo probleme non c'era.
2) in QGIS 3.0 riesco ad usare r.contour solo specificando i livelli. Se
indico lo step ed i valori di massimo e minimo lasciando vuota la lista dei
livelli non lo accetta (in effetti "List of contour levels" non è segnato
come opzionale).

ripiegato ad installare una versione ubuntu più recente, con conseguenti 
migliorie del tempo perso ad installare una versione che richiede una 
sfilza di file recenti, che girano con sistemi operativi recenti, al di 
là delle instabilità alle quali non si può negare l'avventuarsi.


La compilazione dei sorgenti richiede un minimo di esperienza con la 
shell, dei comandi di debug, oltrechè un minimo di dimestichezza con le 
varie fasi di installazione, nel più semplice dei casi, da riga di 
comando (ovvero da shell).



Da non mettere in conto pure le problematiche legate all'interfaccia 
grafica, che da il suo supporto alla sfiga ad oltranza.


Quindi mio consiglio a Totò e altri che si avventurano su linux da poco, 
lasciate perdere la compilazione che è roba da esperti (io ci ho provato 
e rinunciato diverse volte e son 20 anni che uso linux), se vi interessa 
la versione instabile usate versioni di sistemi operativi instabili 
(ovviamente fase beta rende beta anche il resto), diversamente, se vi 
serve per lavoro o altro cosa stabile, avventuratevi nelle virttual 
machine, se i processori le supportano, e lì vi installate ogni ben di 
Dio,  se va male, basta eliminare una voce della memoria occupata.

BUG:
unable to save Layer imported as CSV to a ESRI Shp file.
This results in some Text in the Attribute table which is like
Chinese/Korean script.

Can share the file, for probing.

Per estrarre i dati delle tabelle dell'mdb in altre tabelle con altro
formato devi avere, a mia conoscenza, un pacchetto office /MS o Libre/Open)

Thanks for your effort John.

Following your instructions (and after sourceforge returned to the activity) I 
have been able to install Qgis without major problems in a MacPro with 10.11.6 
system. 

The version installed is 2.99.20180124. Should not it be 3.0? Despiste this and 
once installed, it starts without problems. At the time of using it is when the 
problems begin. As I try to change anything in the properties of any layer, 
Qgis hangs and I have to force quit. This behavior makes Qgis practically 
unusable. Any idea what can happen? The installation process did not give any 
error.

Ciao Luca,

confermo il bug anche sul mio Mint. Sono quasi convinto che sia una
problema di Qt perché con un'altra compilazione (Qt 5.9 in modo da aver
il 3D) il problema non c'è.

Purtroppo devi compilarti le Qt da solo perchè attualmente nei repo di
Mint non ci sono quelle più aggiornate.
