I've thought long on this. I'm reasonably convinced it's a short-term
issue as people adjust there 2.x workflows to 3.0.

There's two approaches I can see working to mitigate it:

1. Add a "pages panel", which allows you to pick from existing pages
(e.g. via a drop-down combo box) and then set the properties for that
page. It could also have the actions for adding new pages and deleting
existing pages there too.

and/or

2. Add a "new layout wizard", which shows when you create a new print
layout. This would prompt users to set the page size before the layout
is actually created. It could potentially replace the existing layout
manager approach to creating layouts from a template, e.g. by showing
a nice list of available templates via thumbnail graphics.

Unfortunately both approaches aren't trivial, and would require some
hours to implement.

It's kind-of a bug - the cancel button should be disabled because
there's currently no support for cancelling gdal/ogr algorithms.

What script did you use to add cancelation support?

Re: [Qgis-user] True North

2018-04-02 Per discussione Alexandre Neto
AFAIK, true bearing differs in time and location because of magnetic
declination. So I don't think there is a such thing as a CRS with true
bearings.

Assuming you are working at regional level, find the magnetic declination
for that region and remove it from your observations. Then draw the azimuth
using the chosen CRS. I think 26910 will work just fine.

If you are at a larger scale, then you may need to use different magnetic
declination values for each observation.

This may help:

which CRS would I use to ensure that the bearing is True?

I suggest to provide the same interface as version 2 calling this "default
page size" and explaining that every page could get a different size,
right-clicking on the page. Most users make one-page maps and they would
never need this otherwise vital feature.

Re: [Qgis-user] TIN Interpolation from points (survey) with breaklines

2018-04-02 Per discussione Casoli-Risorsaterra

Thak you Teddy

I tried installing Openjump and Interpolate Points with breaklines using
the proper Sextante tool but even, if the triangulation was right
(respect to the breaklines), the quotes of the 2,5D polygons generated
by the tool were not right! Maybe I missed something?

Looking around for some tools useful for my purpuse, I found the
v.Triangle (1) Grass module that is no more contained in the Grass
Processing Tool in Qgis (or at least I couldn't find it!)

It's simply a "front-end" to the famous utility Triangle
 (2) of J.R. Shewchuk
...and It should be exactly what I need in Qgis.

Could I do something to support the (re)developping or new adding of
this processsing module?

Thanks in advance.

Hi everybody

In order to build a TIN (DEM) I created a line SHP and drew a series of lines
linking related points (respecting morphological alignements).

Then I tried to build a triangulagion TIN (DEM) by "Interpolation TIN" tool
using my points with their Z elevation field and my breaklinesline SHP to constrain
triangulation inside each slope or step.
But the TIN obtained is a regular inclined surface that follows the general
slope of the whole survey given by mean of z value of points: no steps no
slopes.

Where I miss? What is the way to build a TIN from points with constrain lines?
I send an image that represents the points and breaklines on a orthophoto
foreground and beside the same vector elements on the resulting TIN by
interpolation.

Thanks in advance.

The reason for this change is that your can now have different settings for
each page.

The page size is not a property of the layout anymore but it's a property
of the page.

But I agree that the page properties might be better exposed.

[QGIS-it-user] Integrazione Lidar DEM

2018-04-02 Per discussione Carlo Tersigni
Salve.
punti in formato xyz o csv.

Yes, there is a panel 'Tile Scale' which is working for WMST, and to me
also looks to work for xyz layers:

- open xyz layer (eg osm)
- be sure the active layer is this xyz layer in the layer panel
- via menu View/Panels select 'Tile Scale Panel' (or via context menu in
the toolbars panel)
- now you can use the slider to go to a fixed scale. After that your
mouse scroll will also stick at the fixed scales (as that one does an
exact factor 2 or 0.5).

IF you really always work with xyz layers as reference layers, it is
possible to change your 'predefined' scales which you see in the Scales
dropdown in the bottom status bar of QGIS. Just export those as xml,
adapt the values and then import them.

I wrote something about it some years ago, to adapt those scales to our
national WMTS scales (which is a DIFFERENT schema then the Google/World
schema the xyz layers use!) [0]

Would be nice to maybe create a 'layer tree widget' [1][2] for these xyz
layers?

[Qgis-user] Problems with tables in layout

2018-04-02 Per discussione Eduardo García
Hello everyone.
I am using version 3.0.1.
I have a project to which I have added a layout.
In this layout, the cartography is visualized on the one hand and the
attributes of each element on the other, by generating an atlas.
My problem is in the table. I have inserted the table several times showing
only one field each time.
The problem is that if I close QGIS and open it again, the contents of the
table are unconfigured, and it shows me all the attributes of a record in
each of the tables inserted in the layout.

Is there any solution to this problem?

Eduardo.
