[Qgis-user] Ordinary Kriging (QGIS v 3.0.3)

2018-06-13 Per discussione PARESH CHAUKHANDE
I am doing ordinary kriging in QGIS 3(Girona) for multiplication data (lonlat)
of India. After running the algorithms, two options are generated: Prediction
and Quality Measure by default. After these when I came to Symbology option,
by default Singleband Gray is alive. When I change the option such as Multiband
Color, ,Singleband Pseudocolor etc. then the Prediction and Quality Measure
values are getting disappear.
I want to generate maps by performing ordinary kriging in qgis. Any help..!!!
Step by step guidance will be highly appreciable.

Sincerely yours,

PARESH CHAUKHANDE.

Hello Nicolas,

Thanks for those instructions, likely will save me considerable

why you would not skip the express desktop install and go straight to
the advanced install directly?

Greetings again,

 1. Regarding the versions, things are not actually as I imagine.
My assumption that higher numbers indicate a newer version

appears to be incorrect. I presume this is documented
somewhere and will try to sort through all that when I get
time. This is a good example of why I am reluctant to wade
into the upgrade end of the pool. Workload well out of
proportion to the presumed benefits.

The Osgeo4w installer makes this easy for you.

 1. Where is the logic here - "so actually it would not be a "step
backwards" to go from 2.8 to 2.18."? Sorry to be difficult
but why does QGIS versioning need to be studied, when it could
easily be intuitive?

They are not numbers. Logic is found here:
https://qgis.org/en/site/getinvolved/development/roadmap.html

1.

 2. Will osgeo4w install an LTR?

I believe the express install will only install the latest stable
3.x version (select Express Desktop Install. The Express Web-GIS
install option is for a web server). The Advance Osgeo will add
options.

a) Select "Advanced Install"
b) Select "Install from the Internet"
c) Select the Root Directory (C:\OSGeo4W64 is suggested. I would
not change it. If you do, make sure you have no space " "or funny
character like in "c:\José Qgis installation"). This is where the
program file will be placed.
d) Select Install for "All Users" and "Create icon on Desktop" and
"Start Menu".
e) Local Package Directory will be offered.
"C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Temp" . Don't need to change it.
That is where the installation files will be downloaded.

f) Select the Internet Connection. Default is "Direct Connection".
g)Choose a Download site. Default is http:/download.osgeo.org.
h) Look at the final screen shot I sent you. I you select
"desktop", you will see current version number (if installed) and
the new version number. Select "qgis: QGIS Desktop" for 3x or
"qgis: qgis-ltr-full." for 2.x. Or both. Other packages will be
selected for you (like Saga, Grass.) Do not deselect them. You
will also need to accept all licences during the install and you
will probably be asked to add extra packages along the way. Accept
them.

For me, the normal procedure on a new computer is to start with an
Express Desktop Install. Then, I do an "advance Install" to add
extra packages or different versions of QGIS.

I see the same on Windows 7, but only with 2.18.

I've (fortunately) never experienced this with 3.0.

If you have only recently installed 2.18.20 I would also consider a reinstall

If I remember correctly there may have also been issues on Mac computers some

[Qgis-user] Dynamic Pie Shape Style

2018-06-13 Per discussione C Hamilton
I had a request from a user of "Shape Tools" to make the pie shapes dynamic
in the sense that as you zoom in and out they would visibly resize to be
remain seen. Since "Shape Tools" creates the pie polygons that is not
possible.

I was wondering if it is possible to add some type of shape style that
would render a pie shape from a point layer with the options of specifying
starting and stopping angles and its relative size.

I don't know if this is possible so I thought I would solicit some ideas to
see if it worth pursuing.

Thanks,

I did not know that it was possible to drag the layer into the browser -
that's very handy. But another way is to connect to the geopackage using DB

Save the file as another file type (or another gpkg file);
You can then drag layers from the Layers panel to the .gpkg file in the

[Qgis-user] Add new layer to existing GeoPackage file

2018-06-13 Per discussione Rick Rupp
Hi,

I want to use the “Save as” function on a GeoPackage layer to save a
reprojected copy to a new layer in the same GeoPackage file. The function fails
with an “Error: Cannot overwrite an OGR layer in place” message. The same thing
happens if I try to save a subset of selected features from a layer to the same
GeoPackage file. However, if I use the ogr2ogr function it works nicely. Is
this the expected behavior? I am updating lab exercises for students in my
beginning GIS class, and trying to switch from shapefiles to GeoPackage, so I
am reluctant to send students to the command line early in their GIS training.
I am working with QGIS 3.0.3 on Windows 10.

[Qgis-user] Rule based styles using SVG markers

2018-06-13 Per discussione Patrick Dunford

Good day to all.

I have noted in my projects repeated issues relating to the use of SVG
symbols as part of specific line-based styles. Currently some of my
line-based styles have an SVG symbol overlaid on top of a particular line.

When these styles are stored into the style manager and exported from
there to a styles file there seems to be little difficulty for the
software in being able to reload the SVG symbols from the file when
software is installed for the first time.

However the use of rule based styles where the styles are stored in some
different system that invokes them according to whatever is specified
for a particular layer seems to be a different and more complicated
process. In the majority of cases when the rules were set up for each
layer, the styles for them were selected directly from the ones already
defined in the styles manager, and seemed to work satisfactorily in that
the SVG symbols appeared as expected.

However it seems that every time the software is installed for the first
time on a newly installed computer, the rule based styling is unable to
locate the SVG symbols that are needed for these styles even although
the style manager for the software has no difficulty in finding and
displaying them.

There is a GUI option in the System tab for setting paths for searching
for SVG symbols. So far I have not experienced that specifying paths in
this area causes the missing SVG symbols to reappear when a project is
opened.

I think it would be of considerable assistance at this point to have an
understanding of how the SVG symbols are looked up and stored in
rule-based styles. Although there is a lack of clarity about where the
styles information in the Styles Manager is read in from when the
software starts up, this part of the software appears to have little
difficulty in looking up SVG symbols and displaying them, compared to
what is happening with per-layer rule-based styling.

If you click on the fill colour (rather than use the drop down box) is the
colour picker tab there and does that work?

Seems to be working OK for me on Win10 Pro. 2.18.20

Where exactly are you using the colour picker when it freezes? (layer,
style, single style, categorised, rule based.??). What sort of data layer?

Cheers - Phil

QGIS 2.14 / 2.18(.20) under Windows 10:
Windows freezes when the "Pick color" function is used. Only way out
 and "Abort". Ideas?

[QGIS-it-user] OpenCycleMap API KEY REQUIRED

2018-06-13 Per discussione Daniele Bonaposta
Ciao a tutti,
sto creando delle mappe da stampare ed utilizzo come sfondo il rendering
opencyclemap.

*OpenLyers plugin > OSM/Thunderforest > OpenCycleMap *
ottengo le mappe in una tonalità ciano bella accesa!!! ...e quindi
inutilizzabile.
Ho un account Thunderforest ed ho impostato API KEY.

*QuickMapServices > OSM > OSM Cycle Map*

qualcos'altro?

Linux Mint 17.3
QGIS 2.18.20

Saluti,
Daniele

Re: [Qgis-user] Unable to load project

2018-06-13 Per discussione Springfield Harrison

Hello Nicolas,

Thanks for those instructions, likely will save me considerable time.
Your instructions seem quite straightforward but just curious why you
would not skip the express desktop install and go straight to the
advanced install directly?

Thanks again…

Cheers . . . . . Spring .

The Osgeo4w installer makes this easy for you.

They are not numbers. Logic is found here:

1.

 2. Will osgeo4w install an LTR?

I believe the express install will only install the latest stable 3.x
version (select Express Desktop Install. The Express Web-GIS install
option is for a web server). The Advance Osgeo will add options.

a) Select "Advanced Install"
b) Select "Install from the Internet"
c) Select the Root Directory (C:\OSGeo4W64 is suggested. I would not
change it.
That
is where the installation files will be downloaded.

f) Select the Internet Connection. Default is "Direct Connection".
g)Choose a Download site. Default is http:/download.osgeo.org.
h) Look at the final screen shot I sent you. I you select "desktop",
you will see current version number (if installed) and the new
version number. Select "qgis: QGIS Desktop" for 3x or "qgis:
qgis-ltr-full." for 2.x. Or both. Other packages will be selected
for you (like Saga, Grass.) Do not deselect them. You will also need
to accept all licences during the install and you will probably be
asked to add extra packages along the way. Accept them.

For me, the normal procedure on a new computer is to start with an
Express Desktop Install. Then, I do an "advance Install" to add
extra packages or different versions of QGIS.
