Re: [Qgis-user] CRS was undefined: defaulting to CRS EPSG:4326 - WGS 84

2018-07-18 Per discussione Patrick Dunford
Raster files usually use additional files to define things like CRS. For
example, a .jpg raster file usually comes with up to three additional
files that define the CRS and the coordinates (.jgw, .xml and .aux.xml)

Generally I see this error when importing a raster that has one or more
of these files missing. The message then appears that the CRS has been
undefined and defaulting, and the coordinates for the imported layer
default to 0,0 in the defaulted CRS

Check if these files are present or if they are corrupted.

It's a bug in that plugin -- you'll need to file it with the plugin's
author and try to get their attention.

[Qgis-user] Qgis 3.2.0 crashes at DigitizingTools plugin activation.

2018-07-18 Per discussione Fernando M. Roxo da Motta

  Hi all,

  I have just updated my machine to the Xubuntu 18.04 LTS:

$ lsb_release -a
LSB Version:
core-9.20170808ubuntu1-noarch:security-9.20170808ubuntu1-noarch
Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description:Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Release:18.04
Codename:   bionic

  The machine is a Asus Republic of Gamers:
$ uname -a
Linux cabore 4.15.0-24-generic #26-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jun 13 08:44:47 UTC
2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

  Upon installing Qgis it was offered the Qgis 3.2.0:

$ dpkg -l qgis
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend
|/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Nome   Versão   Arquitectura Descrição
+++-==---=
ii  qgis   1:3.2.0+28bi amd64Geographic Information
System (GI

  Until the upgrade I was using the last inception Qgis 2.18 in the
Qgis stable repository:

$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/qgis-stable.list
#
#  http://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/alldownloads.html#ubuntu
#
deb http://qgis.org/debian bionic main
# deb-src http://qgis.org/debian trusty main
# nightly binaries.
# deb http://qgis.org/debian-nightly xenial main

  I am still finding my way on this new version.

  I have installed the DigitizingTools plugin from the oficial
repository. On start os Qgis the issues the mesage:

 WARNINGPlugin DigitizingTools : The plugin will be disabled
because it crashed QGIS during last startup. Please report an issue and
re-enable the plugin when the problem has been solved.

  If I try to activate it in the Plugin Manager I got this message at
the terminal:

QGIS died on signal 11Could not attach to process. If your uid matches
the uid of the target process, check the setting
of /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope, or try again as the root user.
For more details, see /etc/sysctl.d/10-ptrace.conf ptrace: Operation
not permitted. No thread selected
No stack.
gdb returned 0
Aborted

  Is there any procedure I should use to help detect what the problem
is?

  Best regards.

Well, I can't see that screenshot very well, but it looks like the disk image
for QGIS 2.18. QGIS 3 has fewer items to install, and one of them is external

Re: [Qgis-user] Contour Smoothing Issue

2018-07-18 Per discussione Nicolas Cadieux
Hi,

I find that the best way to do this is to smooth the raster before extracting
the contour lines. I guess the generalize plugin does not handle the z in the
shape files and therefore save the shp as a 2D file. Grass has good options
for generating contour lines and much of the noise can be reduced using the
Grass options.

[Qgis-user] Contour Smoothing Issue

2018-07-18 Per discussione Andrew Davies
I am losing the Z axis on contour lines when smoothing or removing small
objects using the generalize plug in. This also happens when smoothing or
simplifying geometry.

My workflow is to extract contours from DroneDeploy, Then smooth and remove
small objects in QGIS then save as a DXF and open in ACAD. When opening in
ACAD there is no z axis on the contours after smoothing. If the lines are
extracted from drone deploy and not tampered with the Z axis remains intact
when exported to a DXF and opened in ACAD.

I believe because it's moving the contour lines when smoothing, it's
deleting the z axis data. Is there a way to keep this data intact?

This is my first post on the mail list so I apologize if my description is
lacking information.

Thank you very much.

Grab the MMQGIS plugin that has a geocoder. For that many addresses you may
need a google api key. All pretty easy in the plugin.

Re: [Qgis-user] good afternoon [Mac kyngchaos downloads]

Wafa’a, I don’t understand your problem. Just do the following:

download QGis from this link :
http://qgis.org/downloads/macOS/QGIS-macOS-3.2.0-1.dmg

and do the steps 1 2 3 in that order … Beware that at first step you need to
install Python 3.6.x (i.e. apparently currently 3.6.6) , not 3.7 .
