Re: [Qgis-user] Displaying vertical cross sections in QGIS 3D

Hi,

I think, rather than generating z profiles from a raster, Grant is wanting to
actually display a raster in z-x or z-y (ideally both) space - with an end
point of something like this:
https://geodimensional.com/user/pages/03.products/02.rock-mapper/02._rock-mapper-features/screensho...@4x.png

Grant, please correct me if I’ve got it wrong.

Regards,
Ramon.

Hi,

Not sure I quite follow but have you looked at the profile tool plugin? That
could be a start. You can have multiple profiles if you multiple rasters. That
would not solve the 3D aspect of your question. I tend to go to CloudCompare
for 3D. I Haven’t played much with 3D in QGIS yet...

Good luck!

Are we able to display vertical raster images in 3D? In particular I
want to be able to bring in raster cross sections with XYZ coordinates
for the four corner points so I can display them vertically in 3D
underneath geology for example. Any thoughts?

Re: [Qgis-user] Picture data in Map?

2020-11-18 Per discussione Tony Shepherd (FarmMaps NZ)
Hi

There is a plugin called “Import Photos”.

It’ very handy for extracting metadata (exif data) from a folder full of images
and creating points etc. I use it to map photo locations then use a calculated
field to show an arrow indicating the direction the photo was taken (if
collected in the exif). From memory it also allows you to click a photo and
open a built in viewer to view the image.

Also really useful for mapping and quickly viewing drone imagery.

Cheers

Subject: [Qgis-user] Picture data in Map?

Hi guys,

Is there an easy way to get image data into/linked into a map in qGIS (i.e. a
plugin or something)? I have CyberTracker data with pictures taken of
footprints etc. as recorded in the veld, but when I export it to a .shp file,
the associated picture is no longer in the .dbf (neither is there a link to
it). What I really want is to have a map where when I click on a specific
point, the associated picture would pop up and show on-screen (together with
the text data, like species and behaviour associated with that point).

Would I need to use BLOB's (or BYTEA) in PostGIS for this functionality? Has
nobody done something similar before?

Any advice appreciated!

Cheers,

Chavoux

[Qgis-user] GeoServer vector tiles in QGIS 3.16

2020-11-18 Per discussione Paul Wittle
Hi,

I was just trying out the latest version to look at the vector tiles
functionality but I'm struggling a bit with the GeoServer side. QGIS seems to
be expecting a pbf URL as the input but when I add the URL
https://host/gwc/service/tms/1.0.0/workspace%3Alayer@EPSG%3A3857@pbf/{z}/{x}/{-y}.pbf
 it errors.
This is under Layer> Add Layer> Add Vector Tile Layer

I'm not sure if this is a GeoServer error or I just put in the wrong URL?

I did check the URL's in Network Logger and the resulting tile requests appear
to be returning 400:1 if you check on GeoServer and whilst I'm happy to post in
the GeoServer forum as well I thought I'd ask here first as I've yet to find an
example online showing vector tiles in QGIS from GeoServer.

Has anyone managed to get it to work from GeoServer and if so; what URL format
did you use?

Thanks in advance,

Paul Wittle

[Qgis-user] Pygis path or field index from layer ID

2020-11-18 Per discussione Sebastian Gutwein
Hi,
I am trying to create a tool that chains together some algorithms.
Normally I would just use the graphical modeler but one of the tools I want
to chain together is Tin Interpolation that doesn't seem to work well with
the modeler.
I have gotten it to work by setting up what I can in the modeler and then
exporting and modifying a python script.
One thing that I can't seem to get to work is the input field for the
interpolation plugin. It appears to need the field index.
I can get the field index if I have the file path but when I use the Vector
Layer Parameter like this:
*self.addParameter(QgsProcessingParameterVectorLayer('Elevationpoints',
'Elevation_points', types=[QgsProcessing.TypeVectorAnyGeometry],
defaultValue=None))*

This seems to return the layer ID rather than the path. Something like this:
*'Elevationpoints_ad0ce945_8f93_4e0e_8fe7_5b053ef287dd'*

In the console I get the correct result if I run script this with the path-

*vlayer = QgsVectorLayer('C:\Elevationpoints.shp')index =
vlayer.fields().lookupField('Lidar')print(index)*
But if I try to use the layer ID from the console or the script GUI I get
-1 meaning the field was not found.
And if I run dataprovider() it says the layer doesn't have a data provider.

How can I get the field index from the layer ID?

I also posted this question on stack exchange.
https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/379502/index-of-field-layer-where-i-have-the-layer-id-pyqgis-3

Thanks for the help!

[Qgis-user] Populating field from another table automatically when capturing data

2020-11-18 Per discussione Theunis Morgenthal
Good day

I am using QGIS3.14 Pi.

*Populating field with value from another table automatically when
Capturing data*

I want to automate an attribute field based on the value from previous
attributes.
I have a point feature in a GeoPackage with WorkType and Work Detail
fields which I have created value relations and it works great. For
the next field I want to specify the unit of measurement for example I have
a Class "Borehole" - subclass "Drilling" my Unit of measurement is "PSI".
The behaviour I am looking for is when I select the WorkType the Unit of
measurement will be filled in automatically.

In a second attribute table I have a list of WorkTypes and WorkDetails and
the Unit of Measurement which I am linking to from value relations. How do
I autofill the Unit field based on the selected Class in the first
attribute table?

Sorry I tried to search for an answer but could not find something that
suits my limited knowledge.

I guess my answer lies with the Default Expression option but do not know
how to set it up properly. I tried the attribute function:
attribute(@TableWorkDetail,'Units') but the field remains blank. Also I
have ticked Apply default value on update.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated

Regards

Theunis

[Qgis-user] QGIS on Apple Silicon / Rosetta 2?

2020-11-18 Per discussione John Layt
I realise they're only shipping today, but has anyone had the chance to
test if QGIS runs OK on the new Apple Silicon Macs using Rosetta 2? Our
leasing provider is offering a great upgrade deal (deadline Friday), but I
don't want to risk it until I know QGIS runs OK.

FYI, Qt have announced they are not supporting Qt on Mac Silicon until Qt
6.1 due for release mid-2021, so Mac Silicon native QGIS will have to wait
for QGIS 4, whenever that may be. We'll be relying on Rosetta 2 for at
least 1-2 years, so fingers crossed it works OK!

Cheers!

Ciao Federico e Matteo ho provato entrambe i vostri consigli.

Mettendo gli apici attorno a OUTPUT lo script va avanti, quindi le linee

raster_out = rasterizedResult["OUTPUT"]
rasterGDAL = gdal.Open(raster_out)

non danno errori, ma si ferma alla linea

band = rasterGDAL.GetRasterBand(1)

perchè ottengo l'errore

AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'GetRasterBand'.

In ogni modo non sono sicuro che i passi precedenti abbiano sortito un
risultato corretto.

Grazie
