I may be wrong, but from the provided screenshot of the Help > About 
dialog window and from your initial message it looks like you are using 
QGIS 3.28.2 and not QGIS 3.28.9.

Principalmente penso che manchi la documentazione su come sono stati 
creati i dati necessari per la georeferenziazione che erano presenti sul

Comunque Il codice sul repository su GitHub non è aggiornato: sul 
repository è sostanzialmente presente la versione 9.1, mentre l'ultima 
versione distribuita del plugin è la 9.2. Quindi non è possibile 
attualmente fare Pull Request riferite al codice dell'attuale versione 
del plugin.

migliorare le parti che non vanno e inviare una pull request?


C'è una Pull Request in attesa di approvazione dal 2019 e sono presenti 
4 issue report, aperti nel 2019, a cui non è stata data risposta.

Un nuovo server non è molto inutile senza i dati che si trovano sul 
vecchio server.

We were able to align the orthomosaic using Georeferencer (
3.28.2).  We have not been able to rectify the DSM.

could you please try if the issue does occur also using the latest 
available QGIS LTR version 3.28.9?

Various georeferencer bugs have been fixed since QGIS 3.28.2.

Thanks all for the conversation and helpful thoughts.

I finally had time this morning to read through and try things in qgis.

For a polygon or multipolygon in the symbology settings, the random Marker
fill seems to meet the need well. That should save me a lot of time!

It seems obviously buggy (but seriously nothing is entirely obvious as
this is complicated) for the georeferencer to behave as it is.  The UI
seems to me to imply "figure it out and write it", and while it seems
fair to use existing info as a starting point, the shift interpretation
seems odd.

Is there an open bug about this?  If not, it would be great for Mark to
file one using the particular details of his situation.   I'm not really
clear on if the bug is triggered with:

  CRS but not scale/offset
  CRS and with scale/offset
  no CRS and with scale/offset

As far as I know the georeferencer works fine if both CRS and
scale/offset are missing; that's the normal case.

non credo si sia pensato che l'Arch. Saccon dovesse essere a
disposizione, si spera nel suo intervento, ma è evidente che se non
può, per qualunque motivo, nessuno gliene fa una colpa.
Anzi, credo che gli siamo tutti grati per il lavoro che ha fatto sia
per il plugin che per il server e con questa discussione si sottolinea
ulteriormente la preziosità del suo lavoro, qualora ce ne fosse
bisogno.

Nessuno, infatti Ludovico ha solo scritto che potrebbe essere utile.
Certo che se il plugin continua ad essere sviluppato e si riesce a
integrare la georeferenziazione o rimettere in piedi il server è un
discorso, altrimenti poco importa.

Sapevo del codice, ma in passato ho letto mail dove ci si lamentava di
pull request cadute nel vuoto. Non so se un fork possa superare il
problema, tantomeno quello della georeferenziazione.

Che tipo di georeferenziazione? Se siamo in possesso delle
informazioni sul funzionamento della georeferenziazione eseguita
possiamo farlo, altrimenti senza la collaborazione di chi l'ha messo
in funzione la vedo dura.

Anche per me è una necessità occasionale, ciò non toglie che il plugin

Condivido in parte. Se è un progetto che è stato messo da parte (ognuno ha i 
suoi buon motivi), non vedo come senza un minimo di condivisione possa essere 
portato avanti da altri. Come fai a rimettere in piedi il server di 
georeferenziazione se è tutto chiuso? La volontà di proseguire in un progetto 
ci deve essere sia da chi se ne farà carico ma anche da chi l'ha messo in piedi 
(anche con una semplice manifestazione: non ho più tempo, chi vuole dedicarsi?)

disposizione: la gente talvolta deve occuparsi di altro, si ammala, segue un 
familiare, chiude l'attività...
Qualcuno  di noi gli ha scritto per offrirgli un acollaborazione (il software 
non gli interessa) o  chiedere semplicemente "come stai?"?

The answer is: Yes, the MSI installer does have the new, fixed 
Ghostscript version.


To verify you can simply navigate to the bin directory and run the 
gs.exe file in a CMD window. It will show you the version number.

I had similar issues in 2021 trying to use the georeferencer on tiff files that 
already had a crs assigned.
I did not resolve it at the time, just found a workaround, I wonder if it is 
still the same issue.
Seemed like QGIS was picking up the control points in the image as spatial 
coordinates, then treating them as pixel coordinates (or vice versa).

Alexis RL on this list said a proposed fix was up, but I never tested it.

I am trying to measure the amount of sediment captured in several analog beaver 
dams on a small wash in northern Utah.

We flew the site with a drone and collected images that provided us with an 
orthomosaic, point cloud, and DSM (digital surface model) of the wash.  Ground 
control points were put out and the images and elevation models came into QGIS 
accurately (no rectification was needed).  This flight was before the analog 
beaver dams were installed (2021).

We flew the same site last month and produced orthomosaic, point cloud, and 
DSM.  However, we were not able to put out ground control so we needed  to 
rectify the images in QGIS so they would align with the 20213 imagery and 
models.  We were able to align the orthomosaic using Georeferencer ( 3.28.2).  
We have not been able to rectify the DSM.

To attempt to rectify the DSM we used the same control points as used for the 
orthomosaic (the surface model was aligned with the orthomosaic).  This 
produces a file but its location was out of the mapping area and the elevation 
data was no longer correct.  We also used the 4 corners of the DSM for the 
control points in Georeferencer (these corners are the same corner extents as 
the rectified orthomosaic.  This also produced a geotiff somewhere on earth 
with no elevation data.

We also used the plugin Freehand Raster Georeferencer by using the 2 point 
method (1 point being the LL corner and the second point being the UR corner.  
The rectified orthomosaic that was produced the same time the DSM was made was 
used as the base map.  Again the produced file (png) was somewhere on earth but 
not in the correct location and the elevation data was corrupt.

I would appreciate and help with rectifying DEM and DSM files.

Mi pare che Saccon indicasse nel 2019 un uso del server da parte di
450 utenti, che a me non sembra poco.
Magari in molti usano il plugin solo per importare le geometrie in
QGIS, ma non si avvalgono (avvalevano) della georeferenziazione
eseguita dal server.
Io l'ho usato per la prima volta solo qualche settimana prima che il
server venisse spento, ma ho avuto comunque modo di fare confronti fra
diversi metodi per importare i catastali (apposite stringhe PROJ4,
Convergo, ecc.) su una cinquantina di mappe.
Anche se le differenze tra un metodo e l'altro sono marginali
(parliamo di scarti di solito sotto ai 2 metri) il sistema di Saccon
mi parrebbe quello più affidabile; inoltre è di estrema comodità la
gestione automatica di tutte le mappe all'interno di un unico db
spatialite.
Chiaramente la necessità di importare i CXF in QGIS è solo italiana e
si spera che sia temporanea, visto che la mappa catastale rientra tra
i dataset di Alto Valore (di cui alla Direttiva 1024/2019), quindi
dovrebbe essere liberata entro giugno 2024.
D'altra parte non ha senso che un dato del genere debba essere
prelevato a pagamento (ai privati un CXF costa 40 euro) e poi si debba
anche impazzire per poterlo sovrapporre al resto delle informazioni
geografiche.
L'Agenzia da anni sta facendo un grande lavoro per il progetto di
miglioramento della cartografia (con le procedure interne GrifOI -
Orimp - Mosaica, per la correzione delle deformazioni e
georeferenziazione delle mappe originali di impianto, la calibrazione
dei vettoriali sugli originali di impianto e la rimosaicatura tra
fogli contigui) quindi anche se il progetto è mastodontico e la
limitata disponibilità di personale non aiuta, immagino che prima o
poi l'Agenzia troverà il coraggio di rilasciare un dato
georeferenziato nel sistema di riferimento nazionale (ETRF2000-RDN08),
che si tratti di un dato libero o meno.
Detto questo, nelle more che l'Agenzia si muova, visto che i tempi
potrebbero anche essere molto lunghi, sarebbe auspicabile che al
plugin CXFIN sia data la giusta importanza, permettendone lo sviluppo
condiviso su github con l'integrazione della parte di
georeferenziazione, ma questo dipende solo dalla disponibilità
dell'Arch. Saccon, che spero possa rispondere in questo thread, visto
che sicuramente fino a pochi anni fa partecipava qui in lista.

grazie, in effetti non pare ampiamente usato, se consideriamo che alcuni 
downloads sono certamente duplicati.
