Re: [Qgis-user] Missing Raster Calculator in QGIS 3.34

2023-12-18 Per discussione Alexander Bruy via QGIS-User
Hi Lene,

raster calculator is not missing, it is still there and the dialog you
see is the one you are looking for. This algorithm was ported to C++
earlier this year and the algorithm dialog was unified with the rest
of Processing tools. Also there were some other changes aimed to fix
several issues which made the raster calculator algorithm unusable in
the modeler context.

As for the predefined expressions functionality, it was removed as a
result of discussion between QGIS developers involved in Processing
maintenance. It was not missed or forgotten, it was an intended move.

Hope this helps

Hi,

there were some plugins for fiber network design. Maybe you should search
in the plugins repository.
Also some companies have in-house tools (e.g. PlannerFTTH), but these most
likely are developed
for the specific use cases.

Don't know :-). I use self-compiled SAGA because all repositories for

master version
only by compiling it.

Re: [Qgis-user] processing.run gdal file extension fun

2018-08-06 Per discussione Alexander Bruy
Hi Frank,

there is nothing wrong or strange here. First, Processing automatically adds
suffixes to the output filenames if wrong or no suffix specified. And second,
".tif" is a standard suffix for TIFF files (whether georeferenced or not).

So when you specify filename with wrong ".gtiff" suffix Processing adds correct
one and your final filename has double suffix ".gtiff.tif".

Re: [Qgis-user] model built in QGIS2 to be imported in QGIS3

Hi,

Processing in QGIS 3 was refactored a lot and many algorithms
were changed. So it is not possible to covert old models into new
format. You need to recreate it.

If you go with 2.18, you don't need any of these plugins, as QGIS 2.18
has *native* support for XYZ layers which is much more robust than
plugins.

You can use gdal2xyz algorithm from Processing to export
raster values into CSV format.

Hi Tyler,

GNM is disabled by default in GDAL, so you need custom build in order

Have you tried RoadGraph plugin or corresponding Processing front-end

Re: [Qgis-user] plugin doesn't find exiftool executable

2016-10-04 Per discussione Alexander Bruy
It does. Now I see, you just do it wrong and without
reading documentation :-).

"ExifTool Config" field used to specify custom config
file, not executable. Path to executable file should be
configured in plugin settings.

Please check documentation at
https://github.com/NaturalGIS/geotag_and_import_photos/wiki

Hope this helps

path to th executable file.

Maybe I misunderstood, but you already can check/uncheck "Open output file"
checkboxes for every output and decide which outputs will be loaded into QGIS.

I will fix wording today.

[Qgis-user] Preserving joined fields in Processing outputs

2016-04-11 Per discussione Alexander Bruy
Hi all,

and sorry for cross-posting.

When cleaning Processing bug queue I found issue [0] about preserving
joined fields in Procesing outputs. Before implementing this I want to hear
opinions, does it makes sense at all or better to leave things as is: output
layer contains only provider (non-joined, not virtual) fields from input layer?

Thanks

Hi Richard,

I think your question is more suitable for developers list (cc-ing).

AFAIK, such behavior currently not available in Processing, but
I think this is good addition. If I'm not wrong we already even have
similar feature request.

Also I agree that having some utilities class for common operations
in C++ code with Python bindings will be useful.

Zonal statistics work well to extract, numers of cells(counts) , sum of the

[Qgis-user] User-contributed scripts/models for Processing

2014-11-18 Per discussione Alexander Bruy
Hi all and sorry for cross-posting,

you may have know that we have a GitHub repo with user-contributed scripts
and models for Processing [0] and Processing itself provides easy way to
download them for further use.

This scripts/models may contain bugs or one may want to submit feature request.
Unfortunately right now there is no central place for this. So we have
two options
here:
 1. create special category in QGIS bugtracker
 2. use GitHub bugtracker

Another thing, as this scripts and models (well, the biggest part of
them) actually
contributed by users, core developers are not responsible to their
bugs. But users often think that if they use script/model in QGIS that
this is QGIS bug and complain. Maybe we should add a
warning/explanation to download dialog?

Opinions?

seems to have disappeared in 2.6?

2014-08-20 0:34 GMT+03:00 Bernd Vogelgesang bernd.vogelges...@gmx.de:
The brilliant Processing Toolbox e.g. produces tons of ... shapefiles.

Processing can create output in any GDAL supported vector format for you.
All you need is to specify correct format. Also Processing can create memory
layers.

Shapefiles is just default option, as almost all GIS software can work
with them,
so one can easy reuse results in another program. If you work only in QGIS feel
free to save in another format.

2014-08-20 12:02 GMT+03:00 Bernd Vogelgesang bernd.vogelges...@gmx.de:
what format other than the standard shp format could be proposed then for
e.g. for the Processing output (GRASS and SAGA functions seem not to support
 memory layer)?

Any GDAL-supported format. E.g. SQLite, GML, KML, DXF, GeoJSON etc.

And it does not seem to be possible to change the default save option from
shp to sth else permanently for the toolbox?

Right, currently there is no way to set default output format. But
this can be added
I think.

The charm of Processing is that you can quickly do a lot of
trial-and-error-runs on datasets without having to care where the data ends
 up cause its temporary anyway.

Hmm, for trial-and-error-runs shapefile IMO is ok. As I understand the problem
is not in Processing algs, but in join functionality from core.

But I remember that Victor once said that ESRI Shape is the only vector

We always can export to shapefile for 3rd party tools, as we already do this

 Hi,

we are trying to work around what looks like a bug regarding big images
(TIFF 3x3) that are georeferenced with a world file. When trying to
load such an image, QGIS (tested with 1.8 and 2.x) just freezes.
Investigation shows this occurs only when the World file contains a rotation
(is it trying to resample the complete image at loading time?). Manual
edition of the World file to remove the rotation leads to smooth loading of
 the image.

Can somebody help or suggest further tests?

 Thanks a lot,

 Stéphane.

Re: [Qgis-user] [Qgis-developer] Stress about release plans

2014-07-22 Per discussione Alexander Bruy
+ 1 to Otto and Victor.

Developers should develop, the can document some aspects of
code/feature (and they
already do this!) but we can not ask them to write manuals

2014-07-22 13:01 GMT+03:00 Victor Olaya vola...@gmail.com:
+1 to what Otto said. Very good point. Those creating training materials
should coordinate and help the core QGIS documentation (both the manual and
 the training manual) improve.

The solution is very simple: Require up to date, accurate documentation
for all commits of new features. This is one for the PSC.
After all, what's the point in having tons of features if no-one knows how
to use them or what they do?
Will it slow down new feature feature commit? Probably, but I figure
that's a small price to pay for actually having documentation. And from that
documentation, universal training materials can be developed much more
 easily.

-1 from me. Features are also documented by people using them, not just by
the devs. We like to say that you can contribute to open source projects not
just by coding, but if we do that, I don't think we are going to get many
contributions from users, leaving the documentation to be written only by
 developers.

I try to keep the Processing documentation up to date, but only documenting
the interface itself and the framework, not the algorithms. That's the
reason why a large part of algorithms in Processing are not documented.
Fortunately, some users have contributed documentation, and they have added
descriptions of several algorithms, but the have done that *after* using the
(hitherto undocumented) algorithm and becoming familiar with it. No one is
going to document something that he cannot use yet.

Let's encourage developers to commit features when they are well documented,
but let's also give some flexibility, since that's not always going to be
 possible.

 my 2 cents

 Cheers
 Víctor

my .qgs project and the labels are missing. I open up my attribute table and
the three fields I added are not visible in the table and are not recognized
in any field lists. However, I see they are there existing in the layer when
I view in the DB Manager as well as the qspatiaLite plugin. Anybody know how

Re: [Qgis-user] Shifting overlapping points

2014-01-06 Per discussione Alexander Bruy
Hi Martin,

2014/1/6 Martin Gibson mar...@creativeinterpretation.co.uk:
 Hi,

I'm more familiar with ArcGIS than QGIS but starting to shift over to using
QGIS for most/all work. One thing I had been using QGIS for anyway was
shifting overlaid points, as I couldn't get Arc to do this. I was using the
ShiftPoints plugin, but it doesn't appear to be available for 2.0 - I have
come across a statement that it obsolete now and that I should use Sextante
instead. Can't find any info on how to achieve what I used to with the
 plugin - can anyone help?

ShiftPoints plugin now not supported as its functionality already
available via Processing (Analysis menu). You can find this algorithm
in the Processing toolbox under QGIS Geoalgorithms → Vector
geometry tools → Point displacement.

Alternatively you can use search box in the top of Procesing toolbox
and type something like disp. List of algorithms will be filtered to
match your query.

Hope this helps

Re: [Qgis-user] Shifting overlapping points

Maybe your QGIS is too old. This algorithm was added after
releasing QGIS 2.0.1.

You can upgrade Processing plugin via Plugin manager or,
alternatively, install nightly build of QGIS.

2014/1/6 Martin Gibson mar...@creativeinterpretation.co.uk:
Thanks Alexander. I can't see points displacement on my install. Under
 QGIS Geoalgorithms → Vector
geometry tools I have 18 algorithms available to me, but not that one. Will
investigate further to see if I can find why it is missing.

2013-09-30 Per discussione Alexander Bruy
Hi,

yes QTiles plugin works fine here with both QGIS 2.1

If you download sources from GitHub, you should remenber
that this is sources, not ready-to-use plugin and you should
perform all necessary operations (compiling resources,
building translations and ui) by yourself. Casual users should
install plugin from repository.

The QTiles plugin should be apropriate, but although it is listed in

I tried to download source code from GitHub, but it gives this compile

No, all paths inside installer are the same as in OSGeo4W, e.g.
apps, bin, share and all other directories still here. Only absolute
path may changed, because user can install QGIS in any directory.

Oh cool, I didn't know that. Will the path be the same, relative to
the QGIS path? now the SAGA path is configured automatically with a

the different apps, but if the relative path is different in the
standalone installer, it should be check as well

Hi Andreas,

 * Is there any information around how to configure/customize the app?

Yes, but currently only in Russian (Google translate available) [0]

 * How can I introduce my own categories?

Sure. Just connect your device to PC and copy file
Android/data/com.nextgis.mobile/files/categories.xml to PC and then
edit it. This is simple XML file with next structure

?xml version=1.0 encoding=utf-8?
categories

/category
category name=category-2
subcategory name=subcategory-1/
subcategory name=subcategory-2/
...
/category

category name=custom/
/categories

 * Can I bring in my own data/QGIS project somehow?

Yes again.Just use QTiles plugin to create ZIP with tiles from your
project. Then upload this archive to the osmdroid folder on SD card
or device memory.

You can have several archieves in this folder in same time.

 * Can I work in my own projection system?

Not sure about this, but I think even if this function is unavailable it
can be added easily. Maybe you can ask NextGIS people directrly
using contact form [1]

Hope this helps a bit.

Hi Paolo,

note that AutoGCP plugin needs also QGIS with AutoGCP library
bundled. This library is unmaintained now and original authors have
no plans to support it.

We tried to adopt this plugin and library to latest QGIS with some
success. But also have no resources to fix existing bugs and
maintain its code.

Moreover similar functionality (image coregistration) now available
in GDAL. It requires some work and improvement but IMO it is much
better to use GDAL than another 3rd party library. Maybe AutoGCP
plugin should be dropped and new one, linked with GDAL should be
developed (maybe based on existing code).

Re: [Qgis-user] [Qgis-developer] QGIS and new spatialite driver

2012-12-16 Per discussione Alexander Bruy
Hi Andrea,

AFAIK OSGeo4W has spatialite 3.0.1 and QGIS compiled against this
version. As SL 4.0 databases are incompatible with older library
version you get this message.

Seems spatialite package in OSGeo4W should be updated

But as I try to use it I see that really qgis do't allow use the new

Surely this is better than before when qgis simply crash brutally.

But I guees perhaps should be better to be capable to use the new 4.0 format.
 :)

As some test I understand that it wait for a new version of spatialite.dll.

I try to substitute it with the dll available on the spatialite site,
but it dont seem to be compatible.
Perhaps it use a different compiler.

However, I guess the right solution is to add this library
 (spatialite.dll) to the osgeo4w-setup libraries.
Infact actuallly it is not contained in the list of libraries and I
dont know why, so it is impossible to understand what version is
 actually hold in that container.

But before open ticket on osgeo4w for ask this update I like to know
if is this correctly the missing operation to be able to use the new
 spatialite 4.0 format.

AFAIK, there is no gdal svn package in OSGeo4W. So you should build
GDAL by yourself and then build QGIS against your new GDAL.

I think first we should fix as much bugs as possible (now there are
76 tickets in bugtracker). Also important topics are:
 - i18n support (most strings are not translatable, some algorithms
   can't handle non-ASCII filenames etc)
 - moving some native algorithms (fTools, GDALTools) to SEXTANTE to
avoid duplication and make them more powerful. Some work already
done, but we need to finish it
 - maybe improving documentation (IMO SEXTANTE documentation is pretty
good, both from user and developer point of view)

move your old settings directory (~/sextante by default) to new location.

 Hello list,

The following code is running perfectly inside Qgis (1.7.2) from the python
 console :

 from PyQt4 import QtCore, QtGui
 uri = QgsDataSourceURI()
 uri.setDatabase( C:/APPLI_PDT/CANAL_DEV/bd_canal.sqlite)
 uri.setDataSource( , AOT_POINT, GEOMETRY )
 layer = QgsVectorLayer( uri.uri(), AOT, spatialite )
 provider = layer.dataProvider()
 feat = QgsFeature()
 geometry = QgsGeometry()
 feat.setAttributeMap({1:QtCore.QVariant(5)})
 feat.setGeometry(geometry.fromPoint(QgsPoint(990650,110807)))
  (res, outFeats) = provider.addFeatures( [ feat ] )
 print str(res)

But outside it’s failing (in my app build with python, PyQt and PyQgis).

Res is set to false, and no row was insert.

I’ve spent lots of time with Google, but didn’t found anything…
