Hi Azzurra,
for unix based sistems you need to local build ECW SDK to allow GDAL (QGIS)
to read ECW raster

Hi Elena,
I do the QGIS update at least every 2 days and I never lost data or projects
...
did you save the projects in the QGIS installation directory?
if yes, in this case there is little to do, otherwise you can search through
the file manager * .qgs files or * .qgz files in your pc

If instead, you need to filter only records (elements of layer) visible in
canvas, this it is also possible:
but you can do it only from the attributes table and only layer by
layer...
You need to select in the drop down menu (at the bottom left on attribute
table) the filter "show only visible elements in the map"

Hi Rafa,

You can use filter to canvas (filter simbol in "layer Panel") to do a
spatial filter and all active layers wil do filtered at canvas extension.

Hi Chris,
On my humble opinion there are some bugs on multi geom types but someone
answer me that's "by design"
https://issues.qgis.org/issues/20996
Then I think is not a MSSQL trouble but a "by design" trouble

Hi Taimur al said,
sorry but

1 - a shapefile is composed of at least 3 files (*.shp; *.dbf; *.shx)
without one of these the file will never works and never will open in a GIS;

2 - as often as you export a Raster from ArcGis, unless it's a geotiff,
this raster is not georeferenced in any CRS (as it seems to be what you have
shared).

HI Bernd,
I fully agree with you,
even on the fact of the versions installed and to be used for productivity
(I've installed all concomitant versions available for a single machine, and
I use them almost every day)...
the fact is that every time I write about freezes or general malfunctions

Hi David,
everything you've detected happens since the transition to 3.x also on
windows 7 on PC with i7 4780 and 32GB ram.
any operation, even the simplest one, such as saving or calculating polygon
areas in a shapefile causes freeze of QGIS. Not to mention the node tool
where a forum should be open apart there is a ticket here but only 8 people
have participated ...
Moreover:
- there is no currently a native topological verification tool of
shapefiles (the new validator incorporated in editing is almost impossible
to run on shapefile with hundreds of polygon in ...)
It will take years, in my opinion, before the 3.x version can be used
productively.
Unfortunately, the gap between users and developers remains gigantic,
although most of the developers say that users have been asked .. sin until
2.18.x everything was wonderful.

I Hope that somebody from QGIS.org can see our perplexities and adjust as
far as possible this version which for now remains only a container of good
ideas

Regards

Hi Alexandre,
there is some problems on raster style
I tried to report it here https://issues.qgis.org/issues/20409
but it seemed like a local mistake,
actually even reclassify the raster with a rules file and trying to
re-categorize it,
the styling is not correct,
and the classification changes to paletted with tons of classes
although I try to paste a style saved by a raster classified with same rules
file

I think this is a big bug for those working with rasters and not a
borderline bug as Giovanni Manghi wrote answering to me

I agree with the perplexities;
In fact the clicks have increased significantly compared to
the version of QGIS2(where a user may add a vertex anywhere and not just in
the middle of the segment...),
this new behavior, during a day long editing session it translates into
about 1-2 hours
spent to moving vertices from the center of the segment to the desired
position.

> 2) Highlighting effect is disturbing.

The vertex highlight is not only disturbing,
but It seems Impossible to hold it for example when zooming in or out,
then te user can easily lose the knowledge of the polygon he was editing
(time spent to find the desired polygon)

> 3) Adding a new vertex puts the new vertex on the mouse ready to be
> moved but user has no intention to move it but to leave it where it has
> been added (e.g. for topological reasons).

this also translates into time spent trying to figure out how to reposition
the vertex

> 4) Vertices are not visible all the time but only when the feature is
> highlighted. This can make choosing a particular vertex difficult (see
> also 1).

I would suggest going back to keeping the highlight fixed
once the interested polygon has been selected with keeping the vertices
always clearly visible until a user's new instruction

> 5) It is easy to accidentally add or move a vertex because the most
> intuitive way of selecting something is to click it. But when you click

this is another disappointing behavior, the selection of the vertices
happens only passing with the mouse on the polygon
but,
in a polygon with thousands of vertices it is almost impossible to choose
the one or those need to edit if the vertices
do not remain highlighted (where the vertices are on polygon? The user
should select them randomly? How much time is lost to find the right ones to
edit?)

> 6) The behaviour is not consistent:

nothing to add here, the incongruity speaks for itself (in my opinion, the
users they must know clearly and visually the exact position of the vertexes
in a polygon when they need to edit them)

Hi Gillen,
yes you can do it right click on a field --> clicking on Organize columns
--> in the organize column box you need just click "deselect all" and ok

your field disappear from view in table

I Hope this help you

Hi Rick,
My question is only in case of not selection of vertex...
I've noticed that when I need to edit a polygon that fill a hole of another
polygon the selection of vertex even fail...

[Qgis-user] Very Important Question on vertex selection mode in QGIS 3.4

2018-10-30 Per discussione Antongeo76
Hi all,
I need to know the opinions of other users on vertex selection by new vertex
editor in QGIS 3.4.

Using the new "vertex editor" (since Qgis 3.4) it often happens that user is
not able to select vertex of a polygon when hovering over the polygon...
Then a user need to previously select the polygon (by select tool) in order
to be able to do this selection.

Well, in my opinion, this selection mode is very cumbersome when I compare
It whit the qgis 2.x mode,
where the user could simply click on the polygon to automatically select
vertex, without having to select it in advance (by selection tool).

I think QGIS 2.x mode was more functional and intuitive and especially and
above all much faster

Based on your feedback, we could ask the developers to reintroduce the old
selection mode by open a feature request ticket

Greetings

Antonio

[Qgis-user] Adding new vertex ignore snapping in polygon whit self intersection

2018-10-20 Per discussione Antongeo76
Hi all,
I noticed another potential issue in the new vertex editor

If there are some topological errors,
and I edit the feature to solve them,
in some polygon with self intersection, adding a new vertex on polygon
ignore snap settings and adding the new vertex anywhere in the shapefile and
snapping this vertex to any polygon very far to the poligon I need to edit.
Then this point cause a hole that goes through the entire areal extension of
map.

There is someone else who noticed this?

Regards

Antonio

In 2.18 adding a vertex on a shared boundary,
This vertex becomes automatically shared too
There is a ticked on qgis issues

[Qgis-user] feature request: Please make vertex panel to be able to delete a vertex in QGIS 3

2018-10-17 Per discussione Antongeo76
Hi all,

Using the new vertex editor I often find it difficult to locate the vertex
in map canvas.
So I need to propose a feature request:

It is it possible to make 'vertex panel' able to delete vertex?
If it is possible this would work both for a vertex at a time
as for a series of vertices selected directly in the vertex panel

Thanks for your attention

Antonio

Hi Lukas,
It is the same error I read in my insallation Yesterday,
If you unlock and Erase-restore the files msvcr and msvcp from
c:/Windows/system32, then you reinstall from osgeo all works fine

[Qgis-user] topological editing don't works as expected

2018-10-17 Per discussione Antongeo76
Hi all,

in QGIS 3.2.3 as in MASTER
I need to edit a polygon shapefile with topological editing active
-I set snap options with tolerance 1m to my layer
-I active topologica editing an spapping on intersection
-I try to add a vertex on a polygon and move it for adjust boundary

well
-the vertex is added only on one of two coincident polygon boundary
-then when I try to move the added vertex this reshape only one of two
polygon...
I expected that topological editing still works as in QGIS 2,
where when I add a vertex and move it the reshaping acts on both
polygon who share the boundary I
  want to reshape

there is someone else that has noticed the same anomaly

Regards

Hi Tyler,
I'd yesterday I'd trouble with install on windows 7

Well I find that something wrong QGIS 3.2.3 as QGIS Master
don't start an come out with a Windows error message referred to absence of
qgis.dll…

Well,

I identified that the conflict were whit

msvcr110.dll
msvcp110.dll

I've unlocked this two dlls and erased them
Then I've restored them from trash
I've re-run osgeo setup and all works fine

I hope this can help you

Yes, it can be related but it does not happen only when the "field
calculator" is used
it happens even if you perform several 'manual' editing operations and save
them after about an hour.

It gives me the feeling that there is a buffer overflow

Re: [Qgis-user] Very Slow Table Operations in QGIS 3.2.3

2018-10-16 Per discussione Antongeo76
Hi,

This slowness is also present in QGIS 2.18 as well as in QGIS 3.2.3
and also occurs with fewer features in shapefiles (15000-16000 are enough),
slowness increases as the number of unsaved editing operations increases.

With the "attribute table" opened, even "merge elements" or "split feature"
operations,
cause some problems (i.e. the counting of the records and the selection of
the same does not seem synchronized with these editing operations)
and sometimes this cause freeze of QGIS

[Qgis-user] Vertex editor appear not snap to polygon on certain zoom level

2018-10-16 Per discussione Antongeo76
Hi all,

I noticed that in QGIS 3 (both in 3.2.3 as in Master) with snap on
(tolerance 0.05m),
at some zoom levels (1:100 - 1:50) the vertex editor does not hook to the
polygon
then
- If I go to zoom to layer extension
- hook up any polygon while the vertex editor starts working again
- so I go back to the previous zoom and the vertex editor works well again.

is there anyone else who noticed this?

Regards

Antonio

Re: [Qgis-user] Scale on printed pdf is incorrect

2018-10-15 Per discussione Antongeo76
Hi Flore,

I just did a test on a 1: 2000 scale map I printed from QGIS 2.18.24

in QGIS (whit snap active) the measurement between two points is 67.658 m,
on the pdf the same measurement (without snap) is 33.802mm.
The difference is only 0.027mm and is probably due to the absence of a snap
in the pdf reader.

Regards

Antonio
