[Qgis-user] New symbology: no border

2010-09-24 Thread Timmie
Hello,
I have a vector file with modelled data of regular grid cells.

I would like to display the values as graduated symbol without any border.

I set the proder to zero in the symbol properties but still get a border around
the cells.

Please help me here.

Best regards,
Timmie

Re: [Qgis-user] Re: Projection of Shapefile export

2010-09-24 Thread Roland Hill

Ken / Brett,

The only thing we know for certain is that we are all out of our
depths! Regardless, I think we are on the way to solving this.

Please find a new srs.db here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9546967/srs.db.
The new file incorporates both towgs84 parameters and a reference to
the distortion files. The distortion file values appear to take
precedence, but I have included the towgs84 parameters as it looks like
the AGD84 distortion files do not cover the states and territories that
did not adopt AGD84. Note that I have changed the AGD66 towgs84
parameters to national ones (previously ACT) according to this document
(page 31) http://www.icsm.gov.au/gda/gdatm/gdav2.3.pdf.

To use the distortion files you need to place these files
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9546967/agd66.gsb
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9546967/agd84.gsb in your Proj data directory
(/usr/share/proj on Linux). It is the directory containing the 'epsg'
and 'proj_def.dat' files. Make sure that this is the directory your
Proj installation is actually using by checking the contents of the
PROJ_LIB environment variable (echo $PROJ_LIB). It may not be set,
which is OK. It took me about 4 hours to figure out I had set it to an
old development directory several years ago!

Note that I did try it without the +wktext parameter. It works in Proj
(using cs2cs), but QGIS needs it.

Let me know how it goes on your test points.

Cheers,

Roland

Roland,

I incorporated your srs.db but the translation falls about 30m short (in
Melbourne) and about the same distance out at a control point in southern
Tasmania.

I see you use the National parameters that '... have an estimated accuracy
of about 1 metre.' and are most accurate around Canberra (surprise).
Geoscience recommend use of their distortion tables (xxx.gsb) for more
accurate work Australia-wide.

Can you incorporate the parameter reference to the distortion tables in the
srs.db? I, like Brett, am out of my depth here.

set to no pen for the border style in the symbol property dialog.
I tried this.
My observations:
a) it does not have any affect on the drawn map (still a major part of polygons
with borders)
b) I need to change the symbol for each single class. Is there a possibility to
set all symbols to no border?

You have to use the symbology dialog box in top-down way :
1 - Layer property Symbology
2 - Renderer : categorized
3 - Column : wathever you want to display
4 - Symbol : click Change to open the symbol selector dialog, click
Properties and set border style to no pen, click Ok, Ok and
come back to symbology/layer properties
5 - select a color ramp
6 - click on Classify, all classes are now with no border (come back
and change the symbol if you want to set a transparency)
7 - CLose the layer properties dialog by clicking on Ok
8 - be happy :)

[Qgis-user] 1-banded raster color table

2010-09-24 Thread Agustin Lobo
Hi!

Just few comments regarding this plugin.
First at all, many thanks to the developer who
is addressing a notorious insufficiency that creates many operational
problems to the users.

Comments/suggestions:
1. The plugin starts by opening a selected raster, which takes too
long a time for large raster layers. Maybe reading
a sample should be an option
2. It would be handy that the left imagette be displayed with colors
according to the selected table.
3. The user should have an option to select the min,max values within
which the selected colors will be distributed, as well as
the colors to be displayed outside this range.

I thank again the developer of the plugin. Hopefully this
functionality will make it to the core of the program soon.

RE: [Qgis-user] 1-banded raster color table

2010-09-24 Thread Benoit de Cabissole
Hi Agus,

Thanks for the kind words and suggestions.

Your point 1:
Yes, it is a big problem for large rasters. Mostly due to my naive handling
of raster data! I'm new to Python and learning the ropes...

Your point 2:
Each time you create a colour table, the 'imagette' should be coloured
accordingly, it is there for that (all the time spent to read the original
raster is to create this imagette!) See the help file for examples.
Do you get an error message?

Your point 3:
This is the part of the original app that I haven't (yet) ported to Python.

I'm planning to get rid of the imagette and present a colour bar instead on
which the user would be able to define the max, min values to be coloured.
Also, it will allow to define relations between given values and associated
colour values.

But, I have no plan for release yet as I'm busy on other projects.

Cheers,
Benoit

Re: [Qgis-user] OsX and Postgis Manager

2010-09-24 Thread Giovanni Manghi
Hi,

Missing? I see them on all my Macs (both Leopard and Snow).
One important thing to remember about OS X menus - unlike *nix and Windows,
there is only one menubar, at the top of the *screen*, and it is changed
 contextually
depending on what window is active at the time. (If windows have menubars,
 it's because
they are running from X11 (a purely *nix program, like the Gimp port), or a
 poorly
(no offense intended) or quickly ported program (Blender comes to mind, as I
 looked at that recently).)

sorry, I never used a Mac and I was just following the description of a
colleague. It is all clear now for me (anf him).

cheers

Right click on the layer name in the left window.
Choose symbology

There are various options to use, including having colours assigned by an
