Ok, so the main thing here is getting 32bit OSGeo4W updated to GDAL 1.10 in order to use ECW (plus all the other cool stuff). Is there a reason it's not on 1.10 and could that be done? The column contains mainly numbers with some NA and some NULL strings. [Qgis-user] UI - Double clicking a layer to add it
Hi List, I've noted some inconsistency in what happens when you double click a layer in an effort to add it to QGIS. One of several possible things happens: Add Vector Layer: - Double clicking a file closes the Open an OGR supported Vector Layer dialog but keeps open the Add vector layer dialog. Add Raster Layer: - Double clicking a raster closes the dialog and adds the file immediately to QGIS. Add Oracle / SpatiaLite tables (maybe the other databases too?) - Double clicking a table brings up a Query Builder for that table. Add WMS and Add WCS - Double clicking does nothing. Add WFS - Opens up Expression string builder dialog To me at least this is very wrong. They should all behave in the exact same way when I double click something. Personally I'd say the raster way is the correct one - that's how all other applications work when I double click something to add, be it a GIS or a text editor or anything. I appreciate why opening query/expression builders may be useful, but I don't think it should be the default action on double-clicking. Does anyone else have an opinion on this? Re: [Qgis-user] UI - Double clicking a layer to add it
Hi Larry, No problem. I just figured I should ask first as there may have been a reason for it. Re: [Qgis-user] UI - Double clicking a layer to add it
Hi, For Postgis and Oracle there are options in the Settings -- Options -- Datasources. There you can define what double click on a table means. But yes, it is a bit inconsistent. I think I got used to it. No major trouble, but would be nice if behaviour could be unified. Andreas Am 26.09.2013 19:15, schrieb Jonathan Moules: Hi Larry, No problem. Re: [Qgis-user] Can't use two base maps
Today I was on a QGIS training session with 20 computers all runing windows 32/64bits and Open layers plugin has done well, with more than one layer delivered and being put on/off. However ALL the computers had QGIS 2 installed through OSGEO4W installer. Maybe it's a standalone installation problem? Cheers, André 2013/9/26 Mathias Walker m...@sourcepole.ch This is a bug when running the OpenLayers plugin in QGIS 2.x. I have opened a ticket http://hub.qgis.org/issues/8679 Am Mittwoch, 25. And I can switch from one to the other by selecting and unselect the top most basemap in the layer panel. But I'm not able to do this anymore in 2.0, getting error like: QGIS can not draw .., giving no explanation. Is this capability removed in 2.0? [Qgis-user] QGIS 2.0 and reading OSM through GDAL
Hi, I ask this because I am on 32-bit Windows and therefore my QGIS 2.0 comes with GDAL 1.9 and I can't test myself yet. Question is: How well QGIS 2.0 supports reading OSM data with the GDAL read-only OSM driver http://www.gdal.org/ogr/drv_osm.html? The driver is fast with medium sized datasets. It takes 3 minutes to convert everything from a Finnish OSM data (150 MB as .pbf) into Spatialite database. GDAL driver creates 5 OGR layers from the OSM data and reading them as is may not make much sense with QGIS but with some query wizard users could select a subset of OSM data and convert those into normal GIS layers in QGIS. The wizard might help users by creating a list of columns which can be used for quories by parsing the osmconf.ini file. Then there should be an editable SQL query box for the final query. The contents of the box would be converted into GDAL/OGR SQL clause. The result would be something similar than this ogr2ogr command which selects all lines with any highway tag from an OSM file and saves them into shapefile. ogr2ogr -f ESRI Shapefile -dialect sqlite -sql select * from lines where highway is not null highways.shp berlin-latest.osm.pbf Once I have QGIS with GDAL 1.10 I can myself do this kind of things by writing GDAL .vrt files which would take care of the SQL part but I guess many other users would appreciate to have a wizard. -Jukka Rahkonen- ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user
[Qgis-user] MERIS projection
Dear community I still use QGIS 1.9. I have to work with Modis data. I've found the correct proj4 projection in the site http://spatialreference.org/ref/sr-org/modis-sinusoidal/ I uploaded the new projection in QGis by using custom SR. Everything work fine, but I would like to set also the correct name to this projection that is EPSG:4862. By now QGIS recognizes the uploaded MERIS projection as USER:10002. Can you help me? [Qgis-user] flat file mapping with numeric colour scale
Hello friends I want to do a very simple thing, which must have been done many times by many people, but I do not find where to start, probably because I am not familiar with GIS terminology. Here's the problem: I have a shapefile with subdivisions of the world into about 80 major crop production zones (CPZ). I also have a matrix, one line per CPZ, giving a number of numeric descriptors for each CPZ. The exercise is to map the descriptors, one map per descriptor, by using a colour scale (e.g. 10 classes) to indicate the values of the descriptors. Many thanks for any hint!
