Re: [Qgis-user] Accuracy of geo aligned JPEGs exported from QGIS
I've developed an AutoCAD based application that imports geo aligned image markers (blocks) into a plan using EXIF metadata from images taken by GPS enabled cameras. The base drawing consists of a JPEG image exported from QGIS (Chugiak 2.4.0 Windows XP 32, Windows 7 32 and Windows 7 64). The images are exported using various NAD27 State Plane CRSs. We're running into a situation where, on some of our systems, the image and world file generated by QGIS is off by up to 120'. The same map and data, exported on other systems, will be very close - within a few feet of the camera image markers. I've only been able to test this on a half dozen systems, but the only ones that generate an accurate JPEG/world file are those running Xeon based processors. I'm wondering if there isn't some inherent difference in the floating point processing of the Xeon based systems that accounts for this. Has anybody else seen this phenomenon? Re: [Qgis-user] How to import a Google map
I'm not an expert, just a newbie, but you should be able to export it to kml / kmz from google maps, google maps engine or google earth. If you use kmz, you have to unzip the kmz file (if you use windows, you could need to change its extension to .zip) and take the kml file inside it. They are also some trouble managing google kml files, since they include raster info along with vector info. I read about it in previous message this august. 2014-09-10 12:30 GMT+02:00 labiancamaril...@libero.it labiancamaril...@libero.it: Hi, my colleague has done a map indicating some points using google maps. I don't know if the WPS client plugin works fine with a Geoserver WPS URL, I never tried it, but looking at the code, if that piece of code is running then it was throwing some error from WPS server side, I guess. I changed the source code so I can see the error and avoid the pystring exception. Before I submit the patch I would like to test with a Geoserver WPS URL, Could anyone share any Geoserver WPS URL? -- Salvatore Larosa linkedIn: http://linkedin.com/in/larosasalvatore twitter: @lrssvt skype: s.larosa IRC: lrssvt on freenode ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user

hi Marilena, thanks for providing the link to that map. Unfortunately I don't have the right (access) to this map - if someone creates a map with Google tools, he (the owner) can give access to others by sharing the map, but in that link I can see, that this map from your colleague was created with Google Map Engine. [Qgis-user] R: Re: R: Re: How to import a Google map
Hi, Ralf thanks a lot. I tried to export the map with success. I've just imported the kml file and converted in shp vectors. Now I have the shapefile of points but I can not display the map of my region. So I tried to load a shp of administrative boundaries ( in my possess, clicking on enabling on the fly) but the points and the basic map shp just do not meet. I will try. In any case, thanks for the useful suggestions. Thanks to all. Re: [Qgis-user] R: Re: R: Re: How to import a Google map
then you probably have 2 Shapes with different coordinate systems - kml is always wgs84 (epsg:4326). You have to enable 'on-the-fly' CRS transformation, then it should fit together. If you need a background map, try the OpenLayers Plugin. Ther you have the choice between Google, OSM, Apple and some other basemaps. ralf -- View this message in context: http://osgeo-org.1560.x6.nabble.com/R-Re-R-Re-How-to-import-a-Google-map-tp5161177p5161187.html Sent from the Quantum GIS - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user
