[Qgis-user] New Shapefile Features Fail to Save

2016-02-02 Thread Springfield Harrison

Hello Group,
Am using
QGIS 2.10.1 and have done so without significant problems for many
months.  I am attempting to create simple polygons in a shapefile by
direct vertex entry or copying polygons from another shapefile layer and
pasting them into the active layer.
In almost
every case, these features disappear.  There is an entity entry in
the attribute table but there are no polygons created.  In one case
a polygon was created but it was not the shape that I digitized; no more
polygons could be created although the process for doing so appears to be
working.  No error messages were created.  The CRS for the
project and the shapefile are the same.
The
shapefile can be opened in another GIS but has no content.

Here are
some product details:  QGIS version  2.10.1-Pisa  QGIS
code revision
d20c5b7
Thanks
very much for any help you can render, Cheers . . . . . . . . Springfield

[Qgis-user] FW: QGIS crashes when using mouse wheel to zoom in and out of WMTS services

2016-02-02 Thread Chris Buckmaster
Does anyone happen to have any ideas on the below?

Hi

I am finding that QGIS (v 2.12.1) keeps crashing when trying to use the mouse
wheel to zoom in and out of WMTS services.

If I just scroll it once, it is fine as it will scroll in or out to the next
scale level. But if I want to quickly zoom right into a location and I try and
immediately scroll 4 or 5 times, the WMTS does not redraw and QGIS just freezes.

I am not sure if others have this problem? I know in past versions you were not
able to scroll into levels before the next level had been rendered, something
we might need to look at going back to if there is a problem with scrolling in
and out similar to web maps.

Thanks, Chris

[Qgis-user] Installing QGIS 2.8.4 from the source - how to?

2016-02-02 Thread Luis Molina
Hello,

I just compiled QGIS 2.8.4 from the source on Fedora 18. I had no problems
with the compilation
I installed it in my local directory (not as root). I included the
directories such as lib, bin, man in the environment variables.

I manage to start QGIS but there is an error:

Couldn't load PyQGIS.

Then QGIS starts but without Python.

Could somebody give me a clue on what I'm missing?

[Qgis-user] CliMond data?

2016-02-02 Thread Steve Steve
Hi,
I had been working with BioClim data and that was working in Maxent. I could
clip files and realign them etc.

Now I have some data from CliMond which is in two formats:

Either as text files

CM10_1975H_Bio01_V1.2.txt
CM10_1975H_Bio15_V1.2.txt
CM10_1975H_Bio29_V1.2.txt
etc

Or sets of data as ESRI format files

/bio40$ ls
dblbnd.adf
hdr.adf
metadata.xml
prj.adf sta.adf
w001001.adf
w001001x.adf

Is there a way that I can batch clip these to a format that is usable in Maxent
(python or Qgis)?
Cheers,
Steve

Re: [Qgis-user] Geophysical Processing

2016-02-02 Thread Lester Anderson
Hi Grant,

As a potential fields geophysicist myself, I often do all my
processing using GMT or Mirone, both of which can be used to compute
derivatives via grdfft, including directional and differential RTP
(for your mag). GMT can work with a number of data formats but
primarily netCDF; Mirone has a few more import options for grids.

Getting grids into QGIS is either via GeoTIFF or using a grid format
that works between GMT and QGIS, which is for 2.10 at least, the older
"classic" GMT grid format.

I would certainly suggest working with GMT ( http://gmt.soest.hawaii.edu/ ).

Thanks for those ideas. I can check off most of those items except
upgrading. This is new development so likely computer based? Rather than
QGIS.

I'll look at the bug reports; this is a pretty serious error. Thank you .

Re: [Qgis-user] Geophysical Processing

2016-02-02 Thread Nicolas Cadieux
Hi,
I have no real idea of what you are doing but I think you will need filters to
go from a total magnetic intensity image to a 1VD image. Try to figure
out what these filters are and then Google the filter type with QGIS, Saga or
Grass. Chances are that Saga or Grass have what you need and then you can
access them using the qgis processing toolbox plugin. I wonder if the
QGIS semi-automatic classification plugin has that? Once you have the 1VD
image, the hillshade will likely help you enhance the anomalies.
Limited help but better than nothing...
Cheers!
