Hi Andrea,

I have seen that the geometry checker marks pseudo nodes (no idea why). 
anyways I can use the split _features_ tool (the left hand scissors tool 
in the advanced digitizing toolbar) on the layer.

This is QGIS 2.14.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit

Yes, there was a bug in 2.14. It's been fixed in master and will be included in

Try the QuickMapServices plugin instead. Weird offsets can happen with
the Openlayers plugin depending on your zoom and projection on the fly
settings (should always be set to 3857 for that plugin)

A custom projection should not be needed if your coordinates are truly
Lat/Lon WGS (aka 4326).

[Qgis-user] Question about a Custom SR!

Hi, I'm a new user! I've downloaded QGIS just yesterday, and I think is a
great program.
I'm italian, anyway, the problem is:

I have some coordinates, with a EPSG:4326 SR, from Google Maps.
Using the "OpenLayers" Plugin, I'm opening the OpenStreetMap Layer with a
EPSG:3857 SR.
I've imported the coordinates in a degrees form with the "Create a Layer
from a Delimited Text" function.
All is working, but there's a problem with the X coordinates or the
Longitude. Anything is slighty off to west by 300-400 meters, and by 5-10
meters to south!
The solution I choose is to make a "Custom SR", but I can't do it.

The EPSG:4326 say: "+proj=longlat +datum=WGS84 +no_defs"

I've tried to insert a "+x_0=(space)" a "+lon_0=(degrees)", but without any
results.
The coordinates will return to a "0,0" point of the map, as the SR isn't
correct at all.
Probably with a "+proj=merc" the solution is simple, I don't know.

There's anything I'm missing? There's a method to shift any coordinates to
the east(or right) of the map?
Why Google Maps isn't working inside OpenLayers giving a Blank Page?

Come fai a sapere se è un bug?

prima si chiede in lista, credo sia il miglior modo!!!

a me risulta parecchio semplice usare Telegram nel PC, poi l'obiettivo è di
facilitare la vita agli utenti medi.
Tu parli di bug tracker, che cosa è? (io lo so, ma l'utente medio?)
Tu parli di IRC freenode su canale gfoss!!! tutto cose non semplici.

per far aumentare l'uso della ML occorre semplificare la vita, usare canali
noti ai molti e non a pochi!!!

That's the confusing part. For earlier versions of QGIS, you could use 
either the ppa alone, or qgis.org.





Actually, when installing/upgrading, I always do a lot of trial and

whistles of ubuntugis, otherwise qgis is quite crippled!) without
being able to memorize which combination did the trick in the end.


Me too. And if you want the latest GDAL 2.0, you only get it for 
Windows, or Debian unstable. Any chance to get it into Ubuntugis too?




Only two more lines of explanation in the documentation would do the
trick to prevent users from planlessly installing/unistalling/adding
repos/removing repos I think.

"Using the ubuntugis ppa alone (as encouraged for earlier versions to 
get the best in GIS) does not give you the latest QGIS version."


And a small hint for Linux Mint users that ubuntugis trusty is the right 
one, might be good also.

I have to polygons shapes file one for forest and one for open areas with 
differents polygons for every shape.

If i need to calculate the length of the border between this 2 shapes just the 
edge between forest and open areas is there any function in qgis or I need to 
calculate by hand?

Ho sensazioni discordi in materia.

Sapresti spiegare meglio in che modo le tecnologie che raccomandi
risolvano il problema dei "lunghi e illeggibili thread" ?

Ho installato da un paio di giorni telegram su uno smartphone.
Il client e' libero (anche se non interamente, all'origine,
ne esiste una versione completamente libera) ma il server e'
esclusivamente proprietario.

La mailing list, al contrario, e' servita da un server libero,
cosi' come il canale IRC (per chiacchierate in tempo reale).

Cosa c'e' di nuovo in un gruppo telegram ? Ha a che fare con
l'interfaccia utente di uno specifico agente software oppure
con una modalita' di interazione non disponibile altrimenti ?

UPDATE 03/03/2016 

I updated to QGIS Server and QGIS Desktop to 2.12.3 both and the problem
continues.

After many days of tests I finally found when the issue occurs. I happens
when I save edits of the layer in QGIS (via WFS-T) and at the same time a
[Lizmap Map][1] is being loaded by another user. Lizmap also uses
qgis-server.

Looks like when loading a map, Lizmap makes the server busy and when a WFS-T
update request is recived, QGIS Server is not capable of building the UPDATE
SQL query correctly.Example:

 If there is a Lizmap loading at the time the WFS-T post is received, the
PostgreSQL query generated in qgis-server is:

2016-03-03 11:47:30 CET LOG:  0: sentencia: UPDATE
"public"."getxo_alumbrado_tendido_canalizacion" SET "diametro"='22' WHERE
NULL


On the other hand, if qgis-server is not serving data to a loading Lizmap
when the WFS-T arrives, the PostgreSQL query generated is:

"public"."getxo_alumbrado_tendido_canalizacion" SET "diametro"='111' WHERE
"id"::text='1' 


Note the diference in the where clause. The first one it does nothing. The
second one works ok.

I don't know if I can tune Apache or any config files for qgis-server to fix
this issue. 

I tried giving much more hardware to the server (4 cores and 16 GB RAM) with
no chnage.




I am making all the software updates using OSGEO4W. Ia read somewhere that
Apache and PHP packages have not been updated for years. I'll try to update
them manually and check that the apache or php version is not the cause of
the problem.

[Qgis-user] "Unable to read max value in CSF"

Hi everybody!!!
I'm trying to transform a raster file format (.gtiff) to a map file to
submit to Fragstat. My downside comes when I try to do this procedure from
the Raster / Conversion / Translate option. This leads me the following
error "Unable to read max value in CSF" How I can fix it? I'm working with
qgis version 2.8.3.

[Qgis-user] TPI landform classification

Hello all,

I have been trying to run the TPI Landform classification algorithm in
QGIS (v2.10) and each time it fails by just hanging - the SAGA module
keeps on using more and more memory.

The grids I have tried are all Geographic (Long-Lat) but that should
not be an issue (I would have thought). As a test I ran the same
module direct from SAGA and again it still gets stuck.

Any ideas how this should run or why it fails - it almost looks like
it is stuck in a loop.

did not improve in the last years, but for me this clearly says that you

"differences" then?


Actually, when installing/upgrading, I always do a lot of trial and error  
until the stuff works as expected (having all the bells and whistles of  
ubuntugis, otherwise qgis is quite crippled!) without being able to  
memorize which combination did the trick in the end.


Since 2.12, I even have http://qgis.org/debian activated. This combination  
for some versions works, for some not.
With the update to 2.14, even the grass plugin now for the first time  
seems to work.
Only two more lines of explanation in the documentation would do the trick  
to prevent users from planlessly installing/unistalling/adding  
repos/removing repos I think.

segnalato, no ??

per motivi di lavoro il tecnico della P.A. preferisce che chi gli produce i
dati lo faccia in un altro sistema, anche locale, credo proprio non vi
siano problemi. Vorrà dire che quando (e se) la P.A. deciderà di pubblicare
questi dati, dovrà pensare alla conversione degli stessi nel sistema
ETRF2000-RDN.

Non vi è invece alcun obbligo di digitalizzazione dei propri rilievi.

concordo con chi mi ha preceduto: ETRF2000-RDN è diventato il Sistema di
Riferimento Geodetico Nazionale in seguito al D.M. del 10/11/2011. E,
quindi, tutte le cartografie ufficiali prodotte dalle Pubbliche
Amministrazioni devono essere riferite a questo nuovo sistema.
Per inciso, senza scendere troppo nel dettaglio, ETRF2000 è una
materializzazione del sistema europeo ETRS89, e quindi è coerente con quanto
prescritto nella Direttiva INSPIRE D2.8.I.1.

Piccolo inciso: cosa cambia rispetto al precedente sistema di riferimento
nazionale IGM95 (quello che per anni tutti noi abbiamo identificato -
impropriamente - con WGS84)? Pochi centimetri, quindi ben sotto la
tolleranza dei dati e delle scale cartografiche comunemente utilizzati per
GIS. Quindi, per riprendere la tua domanda:

Fondamentalmente per due motivi:
1) per legge: oltre al DM sopra citato, esiste anche una nota di IGM,
realizzata in collaborazione con alcune Regioni Italiane, che prescrive
l'utilizzo di questi codici;
2) per metadato: ritengo che, a prescindere dalle trasformazioni minime tra
questo sistema e gli altri "simil-WGS84" (e che comunque credo vadano
verificate a valle dell'introduzione degli stessi all'interno di QGIS),
l'utilizzo di questi codici EPSG associati ai dati prodotti sia importante
proprio per tenere traccia dell'effettivo sistema di riferimento in cui

ti riassumo velocemente una tecnica (prendendo come esempio le 110 province
italiane)

1.vai in proprietà layer (prov);
2. tematizzi tramite la regola : filtro =  "nome_pro"  =  @atlas_pagename ;
3. tasto destro sulla regola per aggiungere nuove categorie e
tematizzazioni.
4. avvia il compositore e crea un atlas, metti come layer di copertura il
layer prov e seleziona come page_name il nome_prov.
5. attiva l'atlas e vai.

Puoi anche mettere una regola di visualizzazione che filtri in base alla 
feature visualizzata dall'atlante come quella che uso:


 "OBJECTID_1" = @atlas_featurenumber

prendereste le mie quote che ho messo nel dropbox e fate una prova al volo
su linux... se viene siamo sicuri che è la mia macchina...se non viene è o
lo shape o il plugin.

Io ho già fatto moltissime prove su varie macchine e il problema con vari
shape è sempre il medesimo.

Quindi qualcosa che non va c'è, ma solo con superfici limitate 3 4 mq.

Con il medesimo shape se calcolo una da 2000 mq non si pone il problema.

[Qgis-user] r.watershed problem in QGIS 2.12

Hello, I am not sure if it is the right channel to ask for help in this kind
of topic, if not please let me know.

I was using QGIS 2.12 normally and then started 'mini-dumping' when closing
it, then a few days later the r.watershed module stopped working, the
algorithm opens and seems to run but in the end it show the message: 

The following layers were not correctly created: 
Number of cells which drain to each cell 
Direction of the drainage and so on...

I use the same configuration which I was usually using but the program is
not working anymore.

I re-installed the application, changed the version, used other data, used
other data locations, used other SRC, the result the same.

Also I noticed that even though I uninstalled QGIS 2.12 when reinstalling a
new version it seems that QGIS 2.12 is not uninstalled and a warning will
tell me that QGIS is already installed.

I am open to suggestions since my ideas are over.

prova a ripetere tutta l'operazione dall'inizio, su una macchina pulita
(--configpath is your friend here), con dati piu' piccoli e semplici
possibile, e verifica dov'e' l'inghippo.

Allora il problema è un problema che conosco da tempo e l'ho sperimentato
sempre su vari PC o mac... ma credo ci sia una relazione tra il mio lavoro
e questo errore non va bene in copertura con superfici piccole come gli
scavi archeologici.

A volte mi chiedo se non sia il layer shape corrotto... ma non so come
verificarlo e cmq se aggiungo puntini in punti riesce a coprire

Ok, plugin GRASS7  risolto !!
Mea culpa, tra le "Libs" avevo dimenticato di flaggare il package
"qgis-grass-plugin7".
Ingenuamente, pensavo che se la richiamasse (la libreria) automaticamente.

E ora,  appena ho tempo devo fare l'aggiornamento a QGIS 2.14
anche su Ubuntu, che è il sistema su cui in pratica lavoro
normalmente. Incrocio le dita perchè anche lì, ad ogni aggiornamento
di versione di QGIS il funzionamento del plugin di GRASS è sempre un
punto interrogativo. Speriamo bene !
