Hi Renato
The coordinates that you have picked up are probably in WGS84
(EPSG:4326), those are the usual lat, long coordinates. However, the
image tiles are in the 3857 coordinate system. I would suggest that
you choose the most appropriate local coordinate system for your
project and then assign EPSG:4326 to your new layer, making sure
that "on the fly" coordinate conversion is selected.

When I save the point shape to UTM (EPSG 31982) to check the

I also tried inverting the values of lat / long to x and y, to
no avail.

[Qgis-user] Forced raster export

2017-02-20 Thread Stephen Wandling
I have pulled together data from a few sources for my current map
project. I was getting coordinate issues until I noted the "Set Projet
CRS from Layer" option. So, I have been adding a shape file from the
local Regional District and setting the CRS to that. Then I add other
layers. It seemed to be dealing with my coordinate issues.

But now, when I create my map in Composer, when I go to Save, as a PDF,
I am informed that I have to save as a raster. The notice mentions
'blended modes' and 'vector layer transparency'. I did have a
transparency set for one layer, which I eliminated, and I do not know
what 'blended modes' might mean, unless it means the 'blended CRS' I
have created in my map?

The raster PDF does not meet my needs.

The coordinates in your screenshot (-48 -27) seem decimal lat lon
coordinates (wgs84, epsg:4326). Somewhere in the south of Brazil?

Can you provide some coordinates straight from your csv? Just post the

Hi all,

my polygon layer hosted in a postgis database.
If I try to snap to the edges of an neibour polygon in the same layer it
looks very well.

But if the topology checker is used intersections are detected.
All edges of the border line of the two polygons are at the same points.
If i put one polygons border line away from the other polygon than
evrything is ok.

If i snap to any edges it intersects again.

Realy crasy.

layers.

The points are created correctly, apparently. When I check their
coordinates and compare to the ranges of values in Google Maps, they seem
ok.

However, if I try to load another shapefile of the same location, it falls
very far from the points. Similarly, If I try to load a map from
QuickMapServices, it doesn't work: "*QuickMapServices: Failed to download
all 1 files. - Google Satellite*".

When I save the point shape to UTM (EPSG 31982) to check the coordinates,
the values are not coherent with other shapes of the same location:

Converted coordinates:

What the coordinates should look like (approximate values):

I also tried inverting the values of lat / long to x and y, to no avail.

Any thoughts would be highly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Subject: [Qgis-user] Save GPS infos in a shp layer

Hi Everyone,

I’m using QGIS with an external GPS receiver to create new entities in a
shape layer. It’s work fine.
But I would save too the GPS informations in the same layer (HDOP,
elevation…). Is there a way to do that ? May be with a variable ? I
can’t find it.

Thanks,

Just have a google search about "qgis openlayers problems" and you will
find multiple issues with openlayers.

The rest of my answer is quite self-explanatory.

Hi,

do NOT use the openlayers plugin for basemaps but use
QuickMapServices plugin and activate the "Contributed services" in the
settings.

could you please elaborate on that or point me to a source describing
that matter? I am interested in that as I am facing some problems with
the OpenLayers plugin in certain scenarios.

Cheers
Andreas

Re: [Qgis-user] Broken project file

2017-02-20 Thread Árni Geirsson
Hi again
I did some hacking and systematically eliminated layers by commenting out
... tags in the qgs file until I found an offending
one. After deleting that one from the file, it loaded normally. I don't
know what was wrong with that layer, it happened to be a virtual layer, I
don't know if that is significant. Anyway, I managed to recover the file
but the problem/bug remains.

[Qgis-user] Broken project file

2017-02-20 Thread Árni Geirsson
Hi
A few times I have seen project files break or become corrupt with the
following symptoms: In the layers list, only layer groups and subgroups are
shown, but no layers are shown under the groups or any other layers. The
project is loaded in this way very quickly and the canvas is left blank.
The message log panel shows no error, just the "QGIS Ready!".
Does anyone have any clues about possible causes or ways to recover the
broken files?
The broken file appears to start and end normally, ending with the
tag.
