user does not toch mapcanvas but only switches by using the Scale  
dropdown.




Well, in 2.14 it was obviously possible to cache this WMS. The bar at the  
bottom of the screen either said sth. like "downloading x tiles of y" sth  
like that, or sth like "retrieving tiles x" when loading from the cache,  
and it was wayyy faster.

But all this disappeared with or somewhere in 2.18.

I wonder if that is a specific problem with "my" WMS ,but others I checked  
hat the same behaviour.







But maybe Juergen or other WMS-dev's can elaborate on that?


Would be nice ;) Cause working with WMS is now sooo slw

[Qgis-user] How to get vector tools to appear in Vector menu

I recently upgraded to 2.18 for Mac OS X (High Sierra) from KyngChaos. Trying 
to perform a vector operation, I found that the vector processing tools 
submenus were not appearing in the Vector menu. After some temporary 
consternation about losing this functionality, I saw that these tools were now 
included in the Processing Toolbox, so they were available. After working with 
a few of those tools for a bit, I was surprised to discover that the vector 
tools submenus were now appearing under the  Vector menu. Then, coming back to 
QGIS a bit later, the tools were no longer in the Vector menu and doing what I 
had before, displaying the Processing Toolbox and running one of the vector 
tools, did not result in the submenus being added to the Vector menu.

Since the tools are available in the Processing Toolbox, it’s not a deal 
breaker if they don’t appear under the Vector menu. But since I use them on a 
regular basis, it would be more convenient having them there than having to go 
into the Processing Toolbox. Is there a way to have them consistently appear 
there?

Ciao a tutti,
esplodere la linea è un passaggio in più che puo' essere evitato usando
GRASS GIS ed in particolare:
v.drape [0]
il geo-algoritmo assocerà ad ogni noto della geometria la quota del DTM.
per quanto riguarda l'esplicitazione della z nel dbf non credo sia possibile
con nessun software in quanto ogni feature è, in generale, una polilinea
cioè un insime di segmenti con decine di nodi; al massimo si potrebbe
estrarre la z di un particolare nodi 'i'.

...o meglio ...per essere più precisi ...una volta lanciato "Processing -->
Esplodi linea", la funzione "processing-->saga-->vector-raster-->add raster
values to feature" associerà una quota "media" ad ogni segmento (e non al
nodo) della linea esplosa.
P.S. Sempre ammesso che abbia capito bene la domanda di Matteo Citti, forse
è utile, in ogni caso, fargli presente che, qualora il valore di Z gli
servisse per tracciarsi un profilo altimetrico della linea rappresentante
la strada, esistono almeno un paio di eccellenti plugin di Qgis che lo
fanno "automaticamente" e, una volta tracciato il profilo altimetrico, ti
restituiscono in tabella anche il valore Z della quota dei molti punti
(molti di più dei pochi nodi che otterresti facendo Esplodi linea!) con i
quali, tramite il DEM, si sono calcolati la quota Z per tracciare il
profilo altimetrico.

"Trigger" se lo salva nel file .qgs ...questo vuol dire che, operando 
opportunamente in List of AutoField ---> Assign this AutoField to another 
layer, è possibile esportare il progetto con il layer su cui opera (ossia 
esportare tutto il paccheto di file shape, cioè .qgs, .shp, .dbf, .shx, ecc...) 
in qualunque altro PC ove ci sia Qgis implementato dal plugin AutoField e 
poterci lavorare senza dover riscrivere ogni volta la Custom Expression 
...Ottimo! davvero ottimo!

By the way: I'm wondering, why native Excel support didn't make
it into QGIS3. I think, FreeXL is integrated into GDAL/OGR, so
we could support it.

There was a plugin for QGIS2, I hope it will get ported to QGIS3.

Avviando un classico e banale "Trova testo", (dove il testo da trovare era

Custom Expression del plugin AutoField) ho "scoperto" che questo plugin lo
script del "Trigger" se lo salva nel file .qgs ...questo vuol dire che,
operando opportunamente in List of AutoField ---> Assign this AutoField to
another layer, è possibile esportare il progetto con il layer su cui opera
(ossia esportare tutto il paccheto di file shape, cioè .qgs, .shp, .dbf,
.shx, ecc...) in qualunque altro PC ove ci sia Qgis implementato dal plugin
AutoField e poterci lavorare senza dover riscrivere ogni volta la Custom
Expression ...Ottimo! davvero ottimo!

[Qgis-user] how to convert shapefile in gpx route not gpx waypoints

When I do "save as gpx", it creates a gpx file with waypoints only,
although I force route and track. Besides other non-gpx schema columns all
relavant gpx columns exist based on a attribute table merge of a 'gpx to
point shapefile' layer and 'custom point shapefile' layer.
