Re: [Qgis-user] trouble with WMS layer

2018-10-16 Thread Bernhard Ströbl

Hi,
all that comes to my mind is that the layer is named Mass.1to250k. If
this stands for Massachusetts scale 1 to 25 I would not wonder to
have nothing displayed when requesting the whole world. You get an empty
map not an error, do you?
IMHO this is a configuration question of the server where you should
provide a proper bounding box for your layer.
From QGIS side you could zoom in to Massachusetts and have the scale
between 1:1 and 1:25 and see what happens then.

hope this helps

[Qgis-user] How to maintain text font sizes in a map template?

2018-10-16 Thread Grant Dickins
Hi everyone,

(Preamble - we are recreating map templates in QGIS to be identical to what
existed in ArcMap. We're moving away from Arc and I am relatively new to using
QGIS full time.)

Question:
I am using 3.2.3 (9b176802e5) to build map templates so we can we recreate maps
fast with a consistent style.

However, when I manually set text boxes with font to size 5 (Arial Narrow) -
meaning a font size outside of the drop down list options which go to a minimum
font of only 6 - the template does not save with the changes, i.e. upon opening
the template all size 5 font text has re-sized from 6 and non-narrow. Hence,
text in our title block does not fit and now overlap each other.

Examples.
Preferred text font - size 5 Arial narrow.

After saving the template then re-opening it to make a new map the same text
has reverted to size 6 Arial non-narrow. Why?

How can I make the template maintain text sizes that were set in Item
Properties so they stick permanently and when we open the map template each
time?

I have tried by locking the Position and Size options for each text box but
even the little locks are unlocked again when I open the template. Is there a
limitation when using minimum text sizes or have I missed the way to set font
sizes permanently?

Thanks for any help that can be provided.

Unless you want to do it by hand with georeferencing...
OpenDroneMap(OpenSource), Photoscan($), or Pix4d($$). There are also
several good and relatively inexpensive online options like DroneDeploy,
MapsMadeEasy, etc...

Yes the images will have a center point but that's not the same as being
geo-referenced, that's actually called geo-tagged.

The results can be viewed and analyzed in QGIS.

[Qgis-user] trouble with WMS layer

2018-10-16 Thread Burkhardt, Glenn B UTAS
The Mapserver I've set up doesn't seem to have all the configuration needed for
Qgis to add layers. I'm hoping to get some pointers on what needs to change.
The layers I've defined show up in the server query, but they simply don't
display. One of the problems is that the GetMap query includes lat/lon for the
entire world, instead of the extent of the layer that's been configured. But
even when I adjust that and use Firefox to make the query, it doesn't display
the map. Other applications, e.g., TakukGIS and WorldWind work with this
server. I'm using QGIS 3.2.3.

The query my map server is receiving is:

Hi,
I agree with your response because richard ask for an entire dataset.

I like only add that if the user is likely to retrieve the single feature it
could try to do a
GetFeatureInfo (the identify of qgis) on the wms layer asking for "feature"
instead of "html"

The wms often return the geometry.

Short answer is no, unless the data source is also providing WFS. You can
check this by changing the last part of the URL “…..wms?” to “…..wfs?” and
paste add it as a WFS Layer, if there are any WFS layers available they will

The bug I pointed to is not related to field calculator (the title is
misleading): field calculator just triggers it because it does a lot of
changes.

Buffer overflow would most probably lead to a crash, and this is not the
case.

nothing related with overflows as described in shown tikets... btw, please
give a check with master (not 2.18) nightly builds e.g. qgis-dev. Fix has
been merged and you can check if it works on on dev version not in 3.2.x.

Hi,

Any third party plugin enabled? There are some plugins that are/were
known/suspected to generate this overflow. You'll find related reports in
the bug tracker.
In 3.x, try to run on a clean user profile with no additional plugin.

it happens even if you perform several 'manual' editing operations and save

Re: [Qgis-user] Very Slow Table Operations in QGIS 3.2.3

2018-10-16 Thread Antongeo76
Hi,

This slowness is also present in QGIS 2.18 as well as in QGIS 3.2.3
and also occurs with fewer features in shapefiles (15000-16000 are enough),
slowness increases as the number of unsaved editing operations increases.

With the "attribute table" opened, even "merge elements" or "split feature"
operations,
cause some problems (i.e. the counting of the records and the selection of
the same does not seem synchronized with these editing operations)
and sometimes this cause freeze of QGIS

[Qgis-user] Vertex editor appear not snap to polygon on certain zoom level

2018-10-16 Thread Antongeo76
Hi all,

I noticed that in QGIS 3 (both in 3.2.3 as in Master) with snap on
(tolerance 0.05m),
at some zoom levels (1:100 - 1:50) the vertex editor does not hook to the
polygon
then
- If I go to zoom to layer extension
- hook up any polygon while the vertex editor starts working again
- so I go back to the previous zoom and the vertex editor works well again.

is there anyone else who noticed this?

Regards

Antonio

[Qgis-user] Convert WMS Layer to Vector

2018-10-16 Thread GILLEN Finbar
Hi,

Is it possible to convert a WMS layer to a vector layer in QGIS? If so... how?

Regards
Finbar

Re: [Qgis-user] Custom forms with subform

2018-10-16 Thread Matthias Kuhn
Can you try with a QLineEdit, a QLabel or a QgsExternalResourceWidget
and configure it as attachment?

I have created a custom form using Qt Designer for one layer, which

another layer linked by a relation, but I can't find the way to do it.
Is it possible to accomplish this?
