[Qgis-user] Upcoming QGIS Meeting in Chattanooga TN US October 25th 2019

2019-08-09 Thread Randal Hale
I know this is a repeat for some and probably not applicable for 90% of
the people up here - BUT - there will be a QGIS centric meeting in the
United States in Chattanooga Tennessee On October 25th 2019. This is the
third event in three years for the Southeastern United States. This is
the first 'QGIS Centric' meeting I've attempted.

We have room for about 130. I'd love to max it out. That may be
ambitious but I can hope.

*Address: *

 * Chattanooga State Technical Community College
 * Allbright Omniplex Building
 * 4501 Amnicola Highway
 * Chattanooga TN 37406

*Website:* https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/20191000-QGIS-US

*Cost: *$25

 * Scholarships are available (email me).
 * Sponsorships are available
 * I'm attempting to hold this as slightly better than a break even
event. I want to make this bigger for next year.

*Presentations: *

 * We are seeking QGIS Centric Presentations from anyone who wants to
   come.
 o QGIS In gov't
 o QGIS with Non Profits
 o Programming
 o Cartography
 o QGIS in Education

If you can attend I'd love for you to make it.

Randy

[Qgis-user] Adding topological vertices

2019-08-09 Thread Jan Hartmann

Hi all,

In QGIS 2 I could add a vertex on a segment shared by two polygons just
by double-clicking on that segment. When topological editing was
enabled, a new vertex was added to both polygons, and I could move them
both just by dragging.

In QGIS 3, when topological editing is enabled, moving a shared vertex
is a bit more complex. I cannot just click on that vertex and then click
on the destination location, for then only one of the shared vertices is
moved. I have to shift-drag around the vertex, then click on the
selected vertices, and only then all shared vertices are moved. No
problem with that, by the way.

The real problem is when I want to add a vertex on a shared segment.
When I double-click on that segment, a new vertex appears, but only on
one of the segments. I can move that vertex, but only one segment is
moved. The underlying segments remain in place. To move them too, I have
to create vertices on all of them, and move them all to the new
location. This *is* a problem.

Is there a solution for this? Do I overlook something?

Regards,

Jan Hartmann

[Qgis-user] Open permanent position as Scientist in spatial analyses and remote sensing in applied ecology in NINA, Oslo, Norway

2019-08-09 Thread Stefan Blumentrath
Dear all,

Just want to inform you that there is an open permanent position as "Scientist
in spatial analyses and remote sensing in applied ecology" at the Norwegian
Institute for Nature Research (NINA), Oslo, Norway:
https://www.nina.no/Aktuelt/Nyhetsartikkel/ArticleId/4794/Scientist-in-spatial-analyses-and-remote-sensing-in-applied-ecology-1

Tasks in this position are amongst others to develop NINA´s research and
project activities on landscape analyses, spatial modelling and the use of
remote sensing data (satellite, air-born or in-situ) in ecology research and
nature conservation.

The application should contain:
* A one-page letter where the candidate explains her/his motivation for
applying for this scientist position and a brief description of the scientific
relevance of the candidate's research experience.
* A CV including a list of publications with bibliographical references and
contact details (telephone and e-mail) for three references.

The application must be submitted in English or Norwegian. It should be
submitted by e-mail to siri.svend...@nina.no

Norwegian skills are no prerequisite for the application, but the work will
require communication in Norwegian. Thus, we expect that the candidate acquires
sufficient Norwegian language skills and at least achieves level A2 (equivalent
to 92 hours evening course) during the probationary period, where fees for
Norwegian courses are financed by NINA.

For further information, please contact Research Director in NINA Oslo Kristin
Thorsrud Teien (phone: +47 930 06 805; e-mail: kristin.te...@nina.no).

Dead line for application: 10. of September 2019.

I would be glad to see strong applications from the OSGeo Community...

Kind regards,
Stefan
