Exactly! Thanks! It did not come up on Google. There are only 4 models so
it’s new.

Hi,

You can take a look at French locator filter. It does http call with
autocomplete to search French addresses
https://gitlab.com/Oslandia/qgis/french_locator_filter/

You need to borrow the same logic to consume from your Apache Solr

Re: [Qgis-user] [Qgis-community-team] Choropleth mapping

2021-06-30 Thread Charles Dixon-Paver
I think this query is best served on the qgis user mailing list so I'm
moving it there.

In terms of creating a choropleth, QGIS is well suited to the task and
there is a multitude of ways in which you can achieve this. The simplest
may be to change the layer symbology from single symbol to a graduated [1]
symbol type.

QGIS also supports categorized and rule based symbol types which you can
combine with data driven properties for advanced cartography and design.

2021-06-30 Thread Charles Dixon-Paver
Not entirely sure what's being asked but do you mean something like
https://plugins.qgis.org/models/

Many users also have their own github repos with models and the like. If
you mean a simple way to share/ load/ distribute models I think the
resource sharing plugin does a pretty good job.

2021-06-30 Thread Nicolas Cadieux
Hi,

Multipart to single part will only split multipart object if they exist. In
your case, you have no multipart objects. What you appear to have is multiple
line on top of each other. (Overlapping lines. That is probably because you
did a all-to all shortest path analysis. Therefore, you have multiple paths
overlapping others.

2021-06-30 Thread krishna Ayyala
Tiago,
Thanks for your reply. Actually my shapefile is a polyLine. It is not a
polygon. My polyline shape file had about 6000 lines. When I ran
'multiparts to single parts" It resulted in a shapefile which also had 6000
lines. I was hoping it to be simplified to 30 or 40 lines but that did
not happen.

[Qgis-user] Graphical model repository

2021-06-30 Thread Nicolas Cadieux

Hi,

Is there a graphical modeler repository yet?  I think one was in
planning stage?  If not, can I easily go from a model --> script -->
processing plugin provider using the plugin builder?  I am currently
useless in GUI programing...

Thanks

[Qgis-user] Preview of the QGIS Earth, Sun, Moon, & Planets Plugin

2021-06-30 Thread C Hamilton
I thought I would give you an alpha version of the QGIS Earth, Sun, Moon &
Planets plugin I am developing. This plugin requires QGIS 3.14 or more
recent. It is also rather large because it contains all the data needed to
run. If you are on windows and want to download a self contained windows
plugin use this link to download:

 earthsunmoon-alpha-windows.zip

If you are using some other OS, use this link, but before you install it
open up your OSGeo4W console and run "pip install skyfield'. If this is not
the proper command for your OS then adjust it to how you install a python
package. In the OSGeo4W shell you may need to run py3_env first. If py3_env
gives an error then it is not needed.

 earthsunmoon-alpha.zip

There are 3 processing routines that can be used to display the 1) sun, 2)
moon, 3) planets showing their position directly overhead at a particular
date and time and will look something like this:

There is also another window that displays all kinds of earth and moon data
for a particular location when you click on the "Solar/lunar information"
dialog box that can be found in "Plugins->Earth, sun, moon, & plants."
There is a green plus sign in the dialog box. Click on it and then click
anywhere on the map to capture the coordinate to display solar and lunar
information.

If you need help to manually install this plugin let me know.

I have not included the day/night terminator algorithm yet because there is
a bug in it. Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions.

Thanks,

Calvin

You are right, just take the generated files and upload them. The server
only has to serve them, everything else happens client side in the browser.

QGIS Server offers OGC services like WMS and WFS to serve your tiles
through HTTP but it doesn't include a map viewer, you have to code your
own one.

LizMap (and others like QGIS Cloud, G3W-Suite, etc.) is the easy way as
you don't have to care about hosting and web viewers. But you should
have a look at the demos first to be sure that it fits for your needs,
also it's quite flexible in configuration.

So probably, if you need a really personalized viewer with custom
functionality, you'll have to code your own map viewer. If you need
standard functionality you should be fine with LizMap. And if qgis2web
offers enough functionality, just go with it.

That's not entirely correct: since 3.16 QGIS Server provides you a simple
catalog and map viewer out of the box:
https://docs.qgis.org/3.16/en/docs/server_manual/services.html#qgis-server-catalog

No need for additional software.

WFS3 also has a (even more simpler) integrated map viewer.

[Qgis-user] R: QGIS Server, Lizmap / OpenLayer, QGIS2Web

2021-06-30 Thread Riccardo D'Alvito
Thank you for your reply, it really helped me to understand some of the steps
but on the other hand, it triggered more questions.

  1. So QGIS2Web doesn't need QGIS Server for online map publishing? Just take
the files that are generated by exporting the project (into QGIS), upload them
to any server and they are visible?
  2. Does QGIS Server contain already the QGIS software libraries or does it
use map viewers such as OpenLayers? For the visualization of a map using QGIS
Server, then, one needs a map viewer like OpenLayers or Leaflet in which to
insert the various scripts?
  3. Is LizMap then an easier way to not go through map viewer like OpenLayers?

Thank you very much for your patience.

Riccardo

Hi,

qgis2web exports a static version of your QGIS project to web using
OpenLayers or Leaflet as webmap technologies. It gives you some options

furthermore. It produces pure HTML+JS+CSS so you could host it on any

One limitation is that all your data is exported as GeoJSON, so it's
only suitable for limited amount of data as loading of big files could
be quite slow on web.

QGIS Server needs a more powerful server infrastructure as you have to
install QGIS Server package with all it's dependencies. It has the big
advantage that it serves QGIS projects with all it's symbology exactly
as they are shown on desktop. But you have to code your own web viewer,

Re: [Qgis-user] replace '\' problem

2021-06-30 Thread Werner Macho
Hi,
As David already mentioned... Backslash is a special character and has to
be treated special.

Therefor you would have to write

replace("field", '\\', '.')

to replace a single backslash with a dot ..

special characters have to be "escaped"

Probably see
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escape_character
to find out.

Re: [Qgis-user] replace '\' problem

2021-06-30 Thread Marcos
Thank you for your comment, David,

I will try to make myself clear: when I wrote the snippet "*replace("field",
'\', '.')*" at the field calculator, it doesn't return anything, that is,
the fields are not replaced.
Does anyone have any idea why?

Thanks to the whole community, I learn a lot from you!

[Qgis-user] QGIS Server, Lizmap / OpenLayer, QGIS2Web

2021-06-30 Thread Riccardo D'Alvito
Morning.

I would like to get information on the differences that there are between QGIS
Server and LizMap and between OpenLayers and QGIS2Web. I can't quite figure out
where the operation of one ends and the operation of the other begins.
I know I'm getting a little confused so I need some keys to enlighten me.

Thank you.

Re: [Qgis-user] Reduce the file size of the shape file

2021-06-30 Thread Hervé Furstoss

Hello,

I have noticed that some tools of Qgis sets the size of the data in the
attribute table to its maximum (64) when processing the data. This will
increase the size of shapefile but just one file is concerned the dbf
file. A way to reduce the size of the shapefile can be to reduce that
size of the data in the dbf file.

It can be easely done by opening the dbf file with libreoffice. It gives
access to the data size in the first line of each column and you can
adjust the data size.
ie : If an attribute is : Nature,C,25 this correspond to the name of the
attribute, its type and its size in the table.
After the data processing each attribute size can be set to 64  :
Nature,C,64 but it can be changed to the original value with the software.

Hope it will help you.

Hi,

If you have made a shortest path analysis like a one to all or an all
to all, then multiple paths will be created.  Select and object then
look at the attribute table. Sort them to the top. There is a sorting
icon for this.  You will see that you probably have multiple
overlapping path selected. Send a screen shot or the file and I can
take a look at it tomorrow morning. I am in Montreal time.

Nicolas,
Thanks for your reply. Changing the field format and saving to a
different file format did not work for me. Just now, I noticed that,
Whenever I select one line feature for the "ShortestPath" shapefile,
I see the following message at the bottom left corner of the window.
For example: "2148 feature(s) selected on layer shortest path. i.e.
More than one features appear at the bottom left corner for each line
that I select. I am trying to figure out how this will appear as 1
feature instead of 2148 features. The tools such as simplify and
dissolve did not work for me.

Regards.

Hi,

To my knowledge no.  You could simplify the geometries but that
would probably come with a resolution penalty (missing nodes).
You could perhaps change the field data type.  For example, an
int data type will probably use less space than a float with a 16
decimal value.  A text field can be reduced to the minimum size
needed.  You can also try to save the file under an other name.
Depending on where the file was created and used, saving the file
could “permanently delete” some previous deleted components.  Can
you use another file format?

Hello,
I have a "Streets" shape file of a state with about 12000 lines.
For the same geographic area I have "Blocks_Centroids" shape
file of about 6000 points. I ran the tool as shown below. It
resulted in a shapefile "ShortestPath" with 6000 lines. The size
of the "Streets" shape file with 12000 lines is 5000 KB. Whereas
the size of the output shape file "ShortestPath" with only 6000
lines is 270,000 KB. Is there a way to reduce the file size? The
reason is I need to upload this in a different platform which
cannot accept shapefiles larger than 10,000 KB.
