[Qgis-user] help please

2021-10-10 Thread Peter Cramer
I have a very basic question about qgis features. Thanks in advance for any
answers.

The scenario is that we need to geo locate 6,000 machines in various locations
throughout Australia.
I person will be onsite at each machine in the exact position of the machine.
We want to create a gps position for each machine and save it or record / copy
it
Create a list of the 6000 machines in a data base
Use this database to display machine placements on maps at level - country -
state - suburb and or postcode
Select a single machine and see a description of the location and or actual
zoomed in map vision of the machine location
Zoom out or in to different levels of geographic area size to see all machines
within the screen view

Second priority level of information
Add additional information to each machine. E.g model number and type of
machine displayed in map via hover or similar function
Select State - suburb or postcode to view all machines withing that specific
area.
Build a visual presentation of maps for selected specific areas as above point.

I am thinking that if qgis can do these basic things we can add to our wish
list of features later.

Kind Regards

Peter

Possibly libpostal is what you're after: https://github.com/openvenues/libpostal

Re: [Qgis-user] Filter in field group sections of report

2021-10-10 Thread Jésahel Benoist
Hi Yann,

As I'm often using reports based on filtered datas, and as I see that you
know how to filter, I don't really understand what is the problem. You can
just apply a filter in the main ui on the a or b layer, or make virtual
layers with only the needed datas. Then use the report (close when a change
is made in the main ui).

[Qgis-user] Normalised data

2021-10-10 Thread Dario
Hi,
In my Organization, unfortunately, I receive data which are often not
normalised, specially, for example, for addresses.
Is there any tool (even not in qgis) that can start from a list searching from
a official catalogue, adjusting (in this case) name of address by similarity?

I usually use excel but using very complicated formulas, each time different.
At the end, however, they never work finding similarity, but only same
correspondence.

I hope I’ve been quite clear in what I’m looking for.

Thanks

[Qgis-user] Filter in field group sections of report

2021-10-10 Thread Yann Voté

Hi everyone,

Let's imagine we have a polygon layer named Layer A with tons of
features (tens of thousands), and an attribute layer named Layer B with
even more features. Each polygon in Layer A is associated with one or
more rows in Layer B.

Now suppose we have created a report with a top section for Layer A
containing a map centered at each polygon, and a subsection for Layer B
showing attributes for each related B row.

Is there a way to output the report for exactly one polygon in layer A,
or for only some polygons (for example selected polygons) ?

And is there a way in the subsection to output only some of the related
rows based on some filter expression ?

I am aware of this feature request

https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/issues/44821

but is there a way to achieve this with more steps in the UI or with
pyQGIS ?

Thanks a lot !

Regards.

[Qgis-user] Results from QgsGeometryUtils.lineCircleIntersection

2021-10-10 Thread Zoltan

Hi,
I am struggling with using QgsGeometryUtils.lineCircleIntersection in a
python script I am writing outside of QGIS 3.20.3 [495fbaec], using PyCharm.
In
https://qgis.org/pyqgis/3.2/core/Geometry/QgsGeometryUtils.html#qgis.core.QgsGeometryUtils.lineCircleIntersection
it says that:    If the intersection has two solutions (points), the
closest point to the initial intersection point is returned.

I am wanting to find the coordinate on the polyline, that is at a set
distance from the polyline startpoint.
Note that this polyline meanders so I cannot do this using point on line
at distance 'd' from startpoint

Unfortunately this utility extends my vertex to vertex line segments and
I get results where the intersection point is not actually ON my
line-segment.
This is easy to check for, but the problem is that this utility only
returns the first intersection point found, which is not always the one
actually sitting on my line-segment.

Am I approaching this problem incorrectly, or is this a known 'feature'
of this utility?

Any guidance welcome.

Thanks and regards,
Zoltan

Re: [Qgis-user] Python error upon loading and in every project

2021-10-10 Thread Stefan Giese (WhereGroup)
I suppose that your profile is corrupted by a plugin obviously by
qgis_resource_sharing
You can start with a new profile or you can try to delete the plugin
directly from your profile path:

Go to the folder:
C:\Users\daves\AppData\Roaming\QGIS\QGIS3\profiles\default\python\plugins
and delete the subfolder
