Hi, is possible in qgis-server to customize an html response to a getFeatureInfo request ? I don't see any option in properties. [Qgis-user] Interaction between lizmap client e qgis-server
Hi, I like to try the lizmap client for qgis-server. I know it need the php. This is a like dependency for me because I'm working on a Tomcat, but however I like to try it. Before to start to install all the php dependencies and setting them on my tomcat. I need ot know if the lizmap client need to be in the same machine where is the qgis-server or it can be on another machine, without any NFS or peer sharing system. I tested myself and I believe you found a bug. You should be able to add a new class without any value, and all values outside the existing categories should be rendered with that symbology. Thats how it works in 1.8. I'm not being able to open qgis.org (probably is under maintenance), but if there is no issue ticket for this problem, we should create one. Neither WMS nor WFS have fixed scale intervals - you can set any scale. It is not a tile service with fixed scales. Hi, sorry, I'm not clear explained my question. So let me recall the OGC specs: The MinScaleDenominator and MaxScaleDenominator elements define the range of scales for which it is appropriate to generate a map of a Layer. Because maps from a WMS may be viewed on arbitrary displays rather than on paper, the values used are actually the scale denominators relative to a common display pixel size. The intent of scale denominators is not that the translation between “actual” and “standard” scales always be completely accurate. Rather, the intent is to reduce the amount of clutter or crowding of features portrayed on the map. The scale denominator values are guidelines for clients, not firm limits. Upon receiving a request for a map that is not within the scale denominator range, the server may return a blank map, or may return a portrayal of the Layer that is crowded with features or otherwise poorly suited for display; the server shall not respond with a service exception. Is possible in qgis-server to set the MinScale and MaxScaleDenominator for every layer requestable ? Hi Andrea, I don't understand your requirement. [Qgis-user] QGIS and new spatialite driver
Hi, I see some time ago was updated the driver for spatialite. But as I try to use it I see that really qgis do't allow use the new splite 4.0 format. :( It Say-ing simply obsolete libspatialite, use v4.0. Surely this is better than before when qgis simply crash brutally. But I guees perhaps should be better to be capable to use the new 4.0 format. :) As some test I understand that it wait for a new version of spatialite.dll. I try to substitute it with the dll available on the spatialite site, but it dont seem to be compatible. Perhaps it use a different compiler. However, I guess the right solution is to add this library (spatialite.dll) to the osgeo4w-setup libraries. Infact actuallly it is not contained in the list of libraries and I dont know why, so it is impossible to understand what version is actually hold in that container. But before open ticket on osgeo4w for ask this update I like to know if is this correctly the missing operation to be able to use the new spatialite 4.0 format. [Qgis-user] How increase the decimal in attribute table
Hi, Actually qgis when show the attribute table of a layer, when the field is a float type, show only 6 decimal. This is not good situation when the field is a double. Because the real value is a 15 decimal value. So it could happened that two values really distinct but only on a low decimal, in the attribute table seem to be equals. Hi, is possible with qgis-server to set multiple styles for a layer ? The WMS specs allow the user to choose the style wanted using the STYLES parameter with any of available styles. [Qgis-user] qgis and Large Format Print
Hi, When try to plot or export on a pdf an A0 format using the composer. I see sometime the qgis crash. I need to print in A0 few times and so when qgis crash, I simply reduce the quality from 600 dpi to 300 dpi and all go ok. However I like to understand why qgis crash. Infact I read somewhere that it is a memory availability problem. So I like to know if increasing my memory RAM this crash problem could disappeared. Also I need to understand if a 4GB ram that is the maximum ram usable on my window 32 bit. Could be sufficient for a A0 print. No problema, but AFAIK the qgis problem don't save the print composer. so it should always be recreate. The project is only a layer or two from the RT-WMS. 2012/11/14 G. [Qgis-user] Python error enabling sextante plugin
There is a problem with a missing folder. YOu can manually add it, or pull the latest changes from github, since it is already fixed Regards, and sorry for that Victor today I had tried to updat the osgeo4w installation of qgs-dev. After this. The python error is still here. SO I try to remove the sextante plugin. The plugin install will do me only the downgrade option. The installer say me that I have the 1.0.8 and the downgrade will bring me to the 1.0.7 version. I give a yes to downgrading. But with my big surprise it say me that is not possible to install because is missing a dependencies. The missing dependencies is: admintools.AdminToolsAlgorithmProvider. Please notice I'm try-ing to do a downgrade. Hi, I resolve the problem. :) The fact was that html interpret of webkit don't understand well the relative url. So the icon image was not loading. The solution was simply apply an absolute url. [Qgis-user] Reading of large SQLite files
Hi, this issue is due to a choose of the spalite provider. Splite is really fast to use the data, but when add a new layer to the canvas, it need to analyze all the dataset to understand the largex bbox. To do this it could take also many minutes. After this phase it will be more fast to use it. To resolve this issue, in splaite 3.0 was added a new system table named statistics. It allow to take very fast the BBOX of a dataset without to analyze realtime the dataset himself. Unfortunately the driver splite of qgis is still to splite 2.4.0 so don't use this statistics table. But a good news is that Furieri (the author of splite) is working on a new qgis driver for splite 4.0 that will use this statistics table . and after the add of an uge table will be more fast. [Qgis-user] WMS Provider and the DPI parameter
Hi, starting from ticket #6430 (http://hub.qgis.org/issues/6430) I discovered that qgis wms provider when send a request to a WMS add a parameter DPI. It is a not standard parameter, but main question I have is understand why there is the need to use a DPI parameter. Infact the standard wms request contain a bbox and a map pixel dimension. Perhaps I miss something, but AFAIK knowing the BBOX and the Pixel Size Map I guess is possible to calculate the DPI value. So put on a request BBOX, Pixel-SizeMap and DPI seem redundant to me. Yes is true. Esri don't recommend the personal-gdb. Esri recommend the arcsde version. Because the access db is slow and with size limit (2GB). The spatialite instead has not a size limit and is fast. :) But I guess there is another more important question: spatialite work in double precision indipendently by the extent of the DB. In the personal-geodatabase (9.1 version) is the extent of dataset is 10km there is a precision P1. If the extent of the dataset is 1000Km the precision is P2 with P2 worst than P1. As you can understand if you compare an access 97 db with an access 2002 db you can find many differenze. The same happened for spatialite. as example: If you try to open an access 97 db with a program that want an access 2002 you more probably can see the same error. :) So if you want to pass from a access97 to an access 2002 you should buy the access program and use it. AFAIK it is the only world program capable to trasform a acces 97 file in an access 2002 file. The actual stable version of spatialite is the 3.0.1. This version is compatible with the qgis spatialite driver. Actually the spatialite developer is releasing the spatialite 4.0. It is in RC phase. The client must apply it the index. In the qgis spatialite driver this happened. The qgis driver for spatialite automatically apply the index when available. Just to test this, you can create a huge DB on spatialite without any spatial-index and see the time to navigate it on details scale. [Qgis-user] Access to ArcIMS server with QGIS.
Is there some way to acess a ArcIMS server from within QGIS? I've done some research in the web, and could find some indications it can be done with Openlayers(refs. 1,2), but I didn't find any specific instructions on how to do it. The standard arcims response in not usable from a wms client. Because it is a two-phase request/response. You send a a request to arcims, and it return you an xml . This is the first response where arcims give any eventually request of values, and the url to the image. The client parse the xml response, get the url and start to call the second request to get the image. However ArcIMS allow also working as a WMS server. To do this is necessary install to install a specific connector (servlet type) on a java engine. This connector (named wms-connector) is a wrapper that receive al the wms request wrap it to a arcims request and return the response as a wms response. This WMS connector is available in the DVD of ArcIMS. Perhaps it is also downloadable from the esri site. OpenLayer more probably has decode the request/response of arcims. It is pretty simple. One question: how to get a fast raster catalog in QGIS with a big number of rasters in it? (in this case 400 ecw) I am having trouble getting this to work... I tried a vrt catalog and qgis just hangs when I load it. Reducing the number of images makes it ok. Is this a know limitation of gdal/qgis? Is there another approach to catalogs (not mosaics)? [Qgis-user] qgis slow adding a catalog from gdalbuildvrt.
Hi, I create a huge catalog using gdalbuildvrt. The raster are on a remote shared folder. after I create the catalog, I try to add the catalog to my qgis canvas using the add raster option. Please note that I have the setting do not visualize a new layer added, to avoid lost more time to visualize every single raster of the catalogue. But however qgis take many time to add the catalog to canvas. I don't know why it take all this time. Perhaps it try to open every single raster listed in the catalog to get the bbox from it ? This value has a set of availables values, but there isn't the liveData value as optional value. So I'm not able to produce a good metadata able to activate this very interesting function. From a quick search I guess the liveData is available only in the esri-systems. So perhaps is an enhancement of the esri-profile. In the ISO19115/19139 specs for the tag HierarchyLevel (for the csw-type tag) could be the service value. However I like better understand why is need to have only the metadata liveData as WMSadd-able. I guess, instead, that every metadata having an URL and a protocol named OGC-WMS could be a good candidate to have the AddWMS button available. [Qgis-user] Design features using copy and paste from Line to Poly
Hi, I have a poligonal layer and must draw new polygon copy-ing some linear segments from another layer (linear layer). My goal is copy the interesting segments, from the linear layer, needed to describe the polygon and after this complete the polygon adding manually the eventually little segments needed to complete the polygon. I try using copy/paste in qgis trunk version. But notice qgis some strange situation. Infact. I put in editing the polygonal layer, and try to copy from the linear to the polygon. Seems that qgis allow this action, but don't the line. Perhaps because it is not a a truly polygon. But after to paste the line in the poligonal layer i cannot to complete the polygon because I don't see it and are not able to complete it qith the tools of qgis. I would need to add some segments to complete the polygon before to commit it. There is some plugin that allow an user to copy segments from another layer and complete they before to commit all to the destination layer ? [Qgis-user] Detect order of vertexs
Hi, I have an invalid geometry due to a self-intersect I find it using the tools for validating. But the tool report the record with the wrong geometry not report (obviously) the vertex . Now I must to find the vertex to correct the problem. But the shape of geometry is quite complex, has many vertex, and often it is touchind itself without a real self-intersect. These touches are not error. But most probably some of these touch are instead intersection. So I must find what between all the touching are instead intersections and correct them. To understand where is the intersect I need follow all the vertex of the shape. I don't find nothing to do something to follow all vertexs of the geometry. Because the geometry is a polygon, I try to build a rendering with a fill empty and an outline with a decoration using an arrow to see the orientation of the lines (hoping to detect the intersection) but this choice seem to be impossible. There a method to follow the vertex of a shape in qgis ? [Qgis-user] PostGIS 2 SHP
Hi fellows, I am loading a postgis Layer and then saving it to shapefile. Job gets done. BUT, data type character varying, or character, is always set to 255 CHAR in the shapefile. Therefore, my dbf ends up being a huge table. Is this some bug or I am simply doing something wrong ? Any thoughts appreciated Ricardo The exporting procedure (save as) of qgis do this. But if you use og2ogr (from gdal) to export from postgres to shapefile the string field was exactly the needed. I test with the trunk version of gdal. Infact if for a shapefile (a file) the style is in another file. Maintaining the same paradigm, for a table the style must be in another table. But for a style-file is more simple use it. Is sufficient to decide of use another extension. (.sty for example) For a table, the style cannot be another table with the same name. So the choice of others products was to use a unique table (with a fixed name), usable for all the tables of the schema. This is quite simple conceptually, but is heavy as choice because need to establish that in a postgis-enabled schema must be available a specific table with a specific name. In ArcSDE for example, esri use a set of tables gdb_* , one of they is for the rendering. However is qgis could have an autostyle in a table for postgres/postgis (and spatialite also) , it will be a great feature. You add a new columns and fill it with the button area in the calculator. Unfortunately is missing the perimeter button. But perhaps it could be a simple add ? There almost 2 types of arcsde layers. The single Layers and the geodatabases's layers. The first is quite simple because every dataset (table) is isolated from others datasets (tables). The second is more complex because use all the GDB tables to understand the GIS constraints between all the tables (datasets). (ps: the geodatabase is not a relational DB so it don't know and don't use foreign-key and so on.) - This second format is supported only from arceditor and arcinfo level of arcgis family products (about 20K$) - After this there is another physical level of difference. ArcSDE can use the esri-native format . I don't remenber how it is called, but remenber is some like a binary archived in a blob field. Or it can use DB native formats like Oracle SDO_Geometry and so on. I don't know is gvsig can support all this differences perhaps it support the single-layers structure when used with some DB format like oracle sdo-geometry ? Andrea. UDig is the only open source Desktop GIS that can do this. I've done this, and can confirm that it works for viewing/editing (normally $10k of ESRI software is required to do just this). It just takes some setting up and getting the correct versions and JARs together.
