Also to confirm that the bug exists on Windows but not On linux.
Additional information is that the crash occurs ONLY when the cursor is
moved into the graph area. That is, on linux the cursor has the x y
values presented.

To clarify further, not all data formats support column deletion - shp
being one one that does not support it. The table manager works around
this by making a copy of the .dbf and building a new one without the
missing field.
