Subject: [Qgis-user] Test

Hi all,

can anyone confirm if my mails to the list are received? Usually I always
got copies of my own posts via the list but now not anymore. The config is
OK, at “Receive your own posts” “yes” is checked. I receive all
posts from other users. Still I can see my posts in the archive. I just want
to find out if the spam filter in my company behaves strange or if there is
any problem with the list. Thank you!

Regards

Benjamin

I can only tell about my experience: after several attempts at keeping a stable
version, I concluded that it is not reasonable to do so, as we always need the
latest
and greatest features of QGIS (and GDAL, GRASS, etc.).
I used testing for 10 yrs now, but on several machines I switched to unstable.
IMHO unstable is a misleading term, as it is just as good for the everyday use.
You get the occasional bug creeping in, but also the latest fixes are quickly
incorporated.
All the best.

2010-09-12 Thread blavet

Dear Paolo,

Thank you for this information !

I must say that  as i plan to use GNU/Linux to work daily  without
"surprises "  i'll go in fact from Debian testing to Debian stable,  so
for me the Debian experimental and "unstable" sid branches seems  a bit
"risky" ..

Then for the moment the Qgis 1.5 version  is ok for me
When squeeze will be the stable version and if i need the next versions
of Qgis i suppose that I'll use the plain builds for squeeze-stable ..
and/or make compilations by taking account of your information )

... By the way i don't know if the Debian developpers will keep the 1.4
version or if they will provide a 1.5 version or a 1.6 version for the
final version of Squeeze, but i hope that they will solve the problem
of segfault while resizing the main window stable of Qgis

Thanks again

All the Best

Cheers

Didier Bl.

Beware: this build requires gdal 1.7 from experimental.
For a plain build for unstable, use the nightly build from qgis web site.

Re: [Qgis-user] test of 1.6 for amd64 debian squeeze

2010-09-10 Thread blavet

Hello

Ok Yes i just tried now after removing the 1.5
but for my squeeze version (i.e debian testing)
adding this repo for 1.6 keeps the 1.4 version proposed by default by
squeeze

i suppose that this is because this version is identified by debian squeeze
as a debian unstable version and then is not recognised by squeeze

but no problem for me because the 1.5 version is already very fine !

Thanks again very much
and also for all the informations for ubuntu 10.04

Good night and Regards

Didier
