Re: [Qgis-user] WMS error: Unable to calculate extent

2014-04-01 Thread Alex Mandel
Sounds to me like the proxy isn't working as expected.
I'm not exactly sure how to trouble shoot that without getting super IT
complicated. Perhaps try some of the optional check boxes in the WMS
config - the ones about ignoring urls.

Thanks,
Alex

 Hi Alex!
We needed to set up a proxy to be able to connect to the WMS and according to
our IT-team there´s no firewall blocking the connection. Also, I´m able to
 load
all the layers at home using my own computer, so I´m not sure what this
 problem
 is about.
Unfortunately we don´t have any local WMS, so I can´t say if that works...
 Thank you very much anyway!

Hmm, that worked for me 1st try (QGIS 2.2 Linux).
Are you behind some sort of corporate firewall/proxy?

Does a local WMS served on your same network work?

Hi Błażej,

As you probably know, geoportal.gov.pl used to be moody and it looks like its
another issue... Seems it demands layer style definition, what shouldn't be
mandatory. Anyway, now it works for me too.

Also, you're welcome to the Polish forum http://forum.quantum-gis.pl where
almost everyone uses geoportal and can confirm problems or share her/his
tricks. In the worst case, at least good place for collective complaining ;)

Regards,
B.

Hi Błażej,

please always add some more info (like which version of QGIS you use etc).

Here your url is working fine both in QGIS 1.8 and my (few days older)
development version.
