Re: [Qgis-user] export to dxf problem

2019-12-11 Thread Reginald
Hi Boaz,

When you open the dxf in autocad you need to connect to the geographical
data of the area of the drawing. In the taskpane there is a data icon. Click
on it and choose 'connect to data'. Next add a connection (shapefile or
postgres or wms or whatever is available for the area of your drawing.
Eventually after entering the correct information for your data (check if
CRS is corrrect), click connect, and next 'add to map'.
In autocad you will see your shapefile (or other dataprovider) data. Most
likely your drawing will not show up but if you zoom out untill you see the
x-y cross and zoom overthere that's most likely the place of your drawing.
Enter move, select basepoint and move the drawing to the right place. Rotate
and scale until your drawing fits in the right place. Save your dxf. Import
it in QGIS via the Project menu and it shows up in QGIS in the right place.

Regards,

This is normal, the crs is not save in dxf. Is the crs in longitude and
latitude (degrees) or in meters? If it is in long lat, that may cause
additional problems. Reproject and save it in QGIS in a local utm zone in
meter and see what happens in the cad.

What CAD are you using? Try DraftSight. It is free in 2D but not OpenSource.
Did you find a zoom to layer function in the CAD. It is very hard to find the
lines manually.

Hi Boaz, sorry if you already said, I haven't gone back to check the whole
thread: can you confirm the problem isn't just that the cad entities are
the same as the background colour in your cad? Can you try changing the
background colour? Or zooming extents and drawing a selection box filling
the whole window?

Alister

Re: [Qgis-user] export to dxf problem

2019-11-12 Thread Andreas Neumann
Hi Boaz,

The information you provide is unsufficient. You need to be more
specific.

Does Autocad issue an error message when you try to open the file? If
yes - what is the error message?

Have you tried other CAD software? There are plenty of them out there,
including free ones.

If you open the DXF file in a text editor, does it look like a complete
file or is it somehow truncated?

The fact, that the opening of the exported DXF file in QGIS again seems
to work, means that the file isn't totally broken.

Re: [Qgis-user] export to dxf problem

2019-11-11 Thread Nicolas Cadieux
AutoCAD programs have a tendency to open the file either zoomed out or zoomed
away from our zone of interest. Ex. Your lines are in Canada but the files
open in France. You need to find your data. Zoom in, zoom out or pan until you
find it. Sometimes, you have a function saying « zoom to layer extent ». If
that does not work, try to find your data looking at coordinates system.

Don’t forget to do a « reply all » so that the user groupe can profit from the
conversation.
Hope this helps

 Hi,
You can only save a layer file to dxf, not a project file. Try selecting
a layer file and saving that. Then reopen in QGIS before testing in other
software. Share the layer file and the exact steps followed if that does
 not work.

Re: [Qgis-user] export to dxf problem

2019-11-11 Thread Nicolas Cadieux

Hi,

Try zooming on the data.  It is quite possible that the data it there
but that the file opens very far away from the data.  That is a common
problem with CADs.
