[Qgis-user] removing qgis
Hi all, I found myself in a very complicated situation. My qgis (Trunk r13619m), just stopped work! When I add a vector or open an existing project it just crashes! I removed it through Synaptic and reinstalled 1.4 but the 1.4 comes full of weird bugs. So I tried to upgrade to 1.5 Trunk but the initial problem was still there! Ho can I completely remove any trace of QGIS from the computer so that when I reinstall it, the new installation doesn't came whit old habits? Ubuntu 9.10 here, Thanks, André -- --- Associação Leonel Trindade SOCIEDADE DE HISTÓRIA NATURAL Apartado 25 2564-909 Torres Vedras Portugal Sede e Biblioteca: rua Cavaleiros da Espora Dourada, 27A 2560 Torres Vedras Laboratório de Paleontologia e Paleoecologia: Polígono Industrial do Alto do Ameal 2565-641 Ramalhal http://alt-shn.blogspot.com www.alt-shn.org ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user

Plugins get stored in ~/.qgis If you delete that directory in addition to removing qgis, you should be back to square one. But You'll have to reinstall plugins after qgis is working again. There's also one file: ~/.config/QuantumGIS/QGIS.conf and removing this one is more important then purging qgis installation. ___ Qgis-user mailing list Qgis-user@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-user

It was smooth and clean! Thanks a lot! I just removed the QGIS.conf file (I didn't touch the plugin folders) affter unistalling, and then I reinstalled it again and QGIS is back to life! best regards, Andre 2010/6/12 Borys Jurgiel borysia...@gmail.com Dnia sobota, 12 czerwca 2010 o 17:28:28 Micha Silver napisał(a): It might be some plugin that's giving problems.
