Re: [Qgis-user] 0.9.1 Release plans
Hi Jean-Claude Thanks for bringing my attention to this - I will review your patch today. If anyone else has patches they have sent in by the bug tracker or by sending personal emails to me that have not received a response, please let me know - sometimes I miss things in the torrent of email going through my inbox. Re: [Qgis-user] 0.9.1 Release plans
Hi, I will check and write what I think needs to be updated in the user guide and write to the list the next days for coordination. I will also inform the GUI translators on the docs mailing list so they can update the .ts files before next wednesday. [Qgis-user] 0.9.1 Release plans
Hi All December is coming up fast and our bug triage has been quite a success with over 52 bugs squashed, many small patches and enhancements applied and a general focus on getting rid of bit-rot. Many thanks to the people listed here for the great contribution they have made to the bug fixing spree: https://svn.qgis.org/trac/wiki/BugTriage0.9.1 We are aiming to release 0.9.1 on December 10. Things were a little bit chaotic in our last 0.9. release because we were still figuring out how to get packages made using cmake after the code was tagged. I'd like to make things a little smoother this time since we have all the packaging stuff in place now. So I propose the following timeline for the release: Saturday 1 December: * String freeze in trunk. No more patches or updates should be made to any UI or tr() strings. Saturday 1 December -> Wed December 5 * Packagers make test packages for all platforms and commit any packaging related changes to SVN. Please note the GRASS folks have requested we use: http://grass.itc.it/grass63/source/grass-6.3.0RC2.tar.gz For platforms where we are bundling grass together with QGIS (Win and Mac really). Markus to advise if there is any change in the above advisory. * UI Translators update any small string changes that have arrived in SVN Trunk over the last month. Wed December 6 - Tag Release * Tag release as 0.9.1 in SVN. * Create source tarball * Send out request for final packages Wed 10 December - Press annoucements and publicity Notes: - Otto - do we need to do any coordination for the users manuals? After 0.9.1 is tagged work can continue in trunk. Please note that unlike how some other projects work, we are using trunk for stabilisation. This means beyond bug fixing, any new features committed to trunk should first be approved by the PSC. If you want to work on some new features, you should do so in a branch - contact us if you feel the need for a new branch. We will aim to do folllow up 0.9.2 (or 0.10.0 release number to be decided by PSC) release with possible merges of raster transparency branch, advanced editing branch and diagramming branches early in the new year. If you would like to see these features incorporated into trunk, please test them and report bugs! Test packages for the above branches have been making their way into: http://qgis.org/uploadfiles/testbuilds/ Many thanks for all your help in reporting and squashing bugs. The bug triage idea will be repeated after the next round of features get released. I'm hoping with a few more bug triages we can get rid of all the minor annoyances and land up with a core list of issues only in the bug queue.
