Re: [ql-users] Returning back to the QL :)
Hi, I returned back to the QL scene ( after a 22 yr absense ) late last year and being all grown up with spare cash have accumulated rather a lot of bits, some of which I'm still getting to work (SGC anyone). This forum has helped me no end and still continue to do so. Everyone has given you sound advice, i can't really add much to that except Welcome back. Cheers Neil [EMAIL PROTECTED] 06 February 2007 17:17 After stumbling across my old QL in an attic recently - I decided to try and get back into the QL scene after many years. I'm amazed to see its still fairly active, well, compared to some of the other platforms I remember from the 80's. Everything seemed to come up fine on the QL, even the memory expansion seemed OK. I'd like to try and port a few tools to the QL just for fun, and although I do have a C compiler up and running OK, I wondered if there were ever any hard-disk interfaces developed for the QL and if they are still available. It sure would make things a bit easier :) Cheers Ian. The fish are biting. Get more visitors on your site using Yahoo! Re: [ql-users] Using ED drives with Trump Card ( more info)
Is the following correct? QL A - Working microdrives. Supports Trump Card only, but not SGC or GC. QL B - Non-working microdrives. Supports Trump Card and Gold Card, but not SGC. Both correct What happens with QL A when (a) SGC is plugged in and (b) GC is plugged in ? Update : The GC does nothing in QL A. its a blank screen. I've tried with 68008 removed. Please re-check with a second PSU as that may be a cause of some of your problems (hmm now this is where you need a voltmeter, in case neither PSU is providing the required output). Got a voltage Meter yesterday from Maplin Results : PSU supplied from RWAP 11.35V constant value PSU 2 . approx 12.8V which drops to about 11.8V and then springs back to 12.8V then drops to 11.8V etc Both PSU's work with QL B with GC. PSu makes no difference to QL A with SGC or GC. I am very suprised that neither microdrive works on QL B - normally MDV2 will work if not MDV1. A solution is often to see if the rubber roller on the left hand side as you look in the microdrive slot may have worked its way up the post. Push it back down and it often solves the problem. Microdrives in QL A 'sound' healthier than in QL B if you know what I mean. QL B - D06 sereal Number JS roms from RWAP QL A - No serial number on Base but going by T.Firshmans checksheet, it looks like it's a late QL Model. *** The contents of this email are confidential to the intended recipient. Re: [ql-users] Using ED drives with Trump Card ( more info)
Tony, Haven't swapped the roms as yet, Just didn't have the time. Rich was asking about the PSU voltages so i did that instead. I have JS roms in both machines, what is the reason behind swapping them over, won't they be identical? I'm happy to swap them, I'm just a little puzzled. After today, I'm away for a few days so I shan't get the chance to swap the roms till next week, unless we have the freak snow some are predicting, then I shan't be going anywhere ! Hi Hello, I wonder if anyone here has some spare (not used) GC or SGC for sale? My QL has only superQboard with 512k RAM, which is good, but not enough (ZX emulator is demanding). I would appreciate if you could drop me an email. Thank you and sorry for ad. Jan If anyone here have SGC (no matter how much used :-)) available, let me know too.
