[Ql-Users] QUANTA Magazines

2008-04-06 Thread John Gilpin
I am carrying out a project which involves me copying (scanning, OCRing,
etc.etc) all the issues of QUANTA Magazine from Volume 1, Issue 1. -
February 1984 to present day (although more recent issues have a .pdf file
available.

On checking through my back issues, I find that I am 3 issues missing from
Volume 1. The missing issues are 1 (February 1984), 3 (April 1984) and 12
(January 1985).

Can anyone out there help me to source these issues and loan them to me for
the purposes outlined above?

All processes are non-destructive and I could return them to the sender(s)
as soon as I have finished with them

Regards to all,

John Gilpin.
QUANTA CO-Editor.

Thanks Dilwyn for your kind offer. If you could bring them to the AGM next
weekend, I could collect them from you there. - another project under way!!

I haven't yet read the earlier Volumes of QUANTA Magazine so the required
proof reading etc will not be quite such a bore as might otherwise have
been!!

Thanks again,

Regards,

John Gilpin.

 Hi, John
I have all three of those issues, although the print quality of some
pages in issue 12 is not very good for OCRing.

Do you want me to post them to you, or can it wait until the AGM next
 weekend?

If you need any more, I think I have every issue of the newsletter,
bar one or two I may have lost over the years. A few years ago I took
advantage of the back issues service to fill the gap in the
 collection.

Looking at issues 1 to 3 when I went to check just now, I realise that
the first 2 or 3 issues of the newsletter must have been sent out
BEFORE any QLs ever went out, unless Leon Heller had a pre-release QL
to work from. Some of the early articles are general 68000, C and
hardware articles laying the ground for the forthcoming QL.

Nice way to spend a quarter of an hour on sunday morning - some QL
 nostalgia :-)

OK - I've put them in my pile of stuff to take next weekend in case I
forget about them.

I remember Darren Branagh saying about how when I asked him if he had
a particular issue of QL World a few years ago, how he got his stash
of mags out and started reading them...what should have been a 5
minute job finding one old magazine turned into an all-nighter reading
just about all of them ;-))

[Ql-Users] uQLx Mac

2008-04-06 Thread Dilwyn Jones
Does anyone have a current email address for either Phoebus Dokos or
James Weatherley - I have a query from someone who is looking to
update the Mac version of uQLx if he can possibly get hold of the
sources. We have the emulator itself, but the current version only
seems to work on one particular version of Mac OS.
