Re: [Ql-Users] QLToday V16 I2

2011-12-15 Thread Jochen Merz

I hope you all are aware that it is EXTREMELY fast - actually
the SHIPPING was scheduled mid of Dec so many of you received it earlier
than the shipping date :-)

I remember complaints from some countries last year and the year before
that the post took 2 or 3 weeks to arrive (but then it was shipped
closer to Xmas).

Cheers Jochen

It was not just a question of postage, but that was unbelievably fast.

We enjoyed putting this issue together although there was probably more work
than usual as a lot of copy came in at the last minute. We particularly
liked the wide variety of topics - its shows how lively the QL community
still is.

The weekend of 3rd/4th December was really hectic. We had a choice of
posting that week or waiting until just before Christmas. The QL Today team
took up the challenge and I don't think we have ever done such a quick
proofread. We finished on Tuesday 6th, went to press on the 7th and some
readers had their copies by the 9th.

Thanks to everybody,

Best Wishes,

Geoff

None for met yet.
... unless German is not normally used for the month - Dez on the front cover.

but after a second read:

Independant on p21 shoudl be Independent - but that is Bruce's error.

p45:
after you placed your order should be ... after you have placed your
order
Multiplying with should be Multiplying by.

p46 - a visit of the Tramway museum should be ... a visit to the
Tramway museum.

Jochen - that is unfair of me. You should see my German (8-)#

... well it wouldn't be in character if I didn't check would it.

Tony

Not at all. You learn from your mistakes. The more the merrier!

I realised too late there was a factual error. On page 46 a reference to the
2009 Quanta AGM should have been 2010.

I was mischievously delighted to read in Tony's mail about Independant and
Independent. John Gregory always enjoyed pointing out to me that I was the
author of Style-Check and I frequently confused the two. Nice to know that
someone else does it as well,

Best Wishes,

[Ql-Users] Fwd: QL Today v16.2

2011-12-15 Thread SMSQ - Jochen Merz

... mail from George Gwilt:

Hi Jochen

My copy arrived in Edinburgh before 11th December. I could not put this
information to the QL users group because none of my emails sent to them
are now getting through. Bruce Nicholls is currently trying to correct
his but with no success so far.

Perhaps you could tell the group that Edinburgh was among the first to
get QL Today.

Thanks

George
