[Ql-Users] Concept 3D
Concept 3D now available as freeware A 3D graphics package, written by the late Robert Fingerle and published by US software house Tesseract Software. Prior to his death, the author gave permission for the software to be freely released for the QL. The software is configured for microdrive, so you may need to use a FLP_USE MDV command to run it from floppy disk, for example. Unfortunately, I have no manual for the software, so I have included a magazine review from 1986 with the software in the form of a Quill _doc file called concpt3d_doc which you may wish to read before trying the software. Alternatively, read the article as a (256K) PDF file on the same page. Although I haven’t had time yet to try running the software myself, the review seems to imply it’s a great 3D graphics program. The software is available to download from my website at http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/graphics/index.html I am grateful to Timothy Swenson for obtaining the permission to release the software, and to Rich Mellor for preserving a copy of the software before it was allowed to vanish forever. I have the manual, but it's been a couple of years since I've seen it and I need to dig a bit to find it. When I do, I will scan it and make it available. Tim Swenson ___ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm
Re: [Ql-Users] Concept 3D
I scanned my manual of Concept 3D a while back. It is quite big though; 70MB in size. If someone can handle files that big, I can send it right away. If not I can try to rescan it at a lower quality setting. I am looking forward to play with that software again. My original microdirve died while I was trying to make a copy. The title screen of my program Double Block was done with Concept 3D. I also did an animation of a rotating USS Enterprise with it. Re: [Ql-Users] Concept 3D
There should be a way to lower the resolution without doing a rescan. Please check out ImageMagick. It supports batch process of image files. It is portable and I've used it on both Windows and Linux. http://www.imagemagick.org/ There is a -density option so that dpi can be changed. While we're on the subject of manuals, etc. I have a fair amount of free time, so I am willing to re-typeset manuals and clean up any graphics/charts/etc... I'm sure I can do a bit better than some of the OCRd manuals out there. I've got some that I retyped and/or formated. Maybe someone (with lots of free time :-) ) should volunteer to organize an effort and see who's done what manuals. I'm pretty sure the Concept 3D manual has not been done. Tim Swenson ___ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm
