does Linux have the same sorts of problems that QL has with those?

afaik, there are Linux printer drivers available for [some of] the
WinPrinters...there's a site [somewhere - got the url somewhere] which
 lists
which are compatabile (aka been reverse engineered/specs provided and
drivers written?) and which are not.

AFAIK all HP inkjets are Linux compatible. Their set up over USB is
quicker and simpler than under windows. The only problem seems to be
that for photo quality, they don't have the equivalent of photoRET
(variable drop size), so you have to get the resolution by sheer force
of dpi - which makes photo printing slower, (and generally slightly
lower quality) than under Windows. For all other use, print quality and
speed is as good under linux as it is under windows.

No, not ALL HP inkjets are compatible with Linux. There's a few whose
drivers only offer basic compatibility and are at best quick hacks. The
same applies for HP's cheap LaserJets as well... The rule of thumb with HP
printers is: If it has a parallel port it is DEFINITELY supported by
Linux. If it doesn't and it is also cheap, chances are it doesn't.

It is but marginally (I have no problems with this combination here for
example) however the chances of your QL locking up are extremely higher.

If yes, it shouldn't quit easy to replace the QL's Powersupply

Yes it is relatively easy to replace your QL power supply with a PC one,
or even modify the circuitry inside your QL.
You should contact Tony Firshman on that one :-)

Is there any Ethernet Card for the QL ?

There's one that's already designed but not constructed. It was designed
by Zeljko Nastasic (aka Nasta) and it's called the EtherIDE.
There's no software for it yet although qlwIP should work without problems

There were many that were hacked ;-) however a lot of them are lost. I
used to have in Greece (where this was ermmm... common practice) a ton
 of
games that were previously copy-protected. I bought most of them over
 the
years in legit form, but now that they no longer work, I wish I had kept
the hacked versions so I could enjoy them still :-)

I have kept them 8-). Unfortunately, The Pawn was hacked by an italian
guy, who has unfortunately compiled the loader with Supercharge, maybe to
protect his work ;-). And that is the only hacked version, I am aware. It
does not run on QPC and QemuLator but on a 640k SQB QL.

Well I've done in the past a version of the Magnetic emulator (that also
allows for the graphics to be displayed - ripped from other versions of
the Pawn and displayed using libpng). However it was never stable enough
to be released. I guess I will have to pick that one up again and finish
it (Allthough thanks to Per Witte's curse a while back - Not really a
curse but he sent that with two kids I will have my hands full when at the
time I did not but somehow it ended up being like that!- I have less time
than ever and almost all of it is spent of freeQDOS). Back to Magnetic, I
even went so far to convert the mp3 files accompanying the magnetic games
to a ub format, so they would work on my Q40. Now that QPC allows that as
well, I see no reason why it couldn't be used under QPC as well.

4Matter/Locksmith, went two steps further than that. I did reproduce the
(purposefully left) bad sectors left on a microdrive to make exact
 copies
as well as descrambled references to flp/mdv and other devices.

And we should remind Steve Jones also for his *very* good SideWinder dump
 program!

Didn't Dilwyn have something like that too?

To answer this we really need more information on the type of files, but
I am assuming they are mode 4 or mode 8 screens in _pic format.

It is truecolor hires snapshots taken with the launchpad util.

Truecolor? You surely mean Hi-Color. (Unless Dilwyn allows for true-color
