Re: [ql-users] What happened at the AGM?
1. Not very well attended - about 50 people between both days. 2. Of the traders, Jochen, Darren, Bill Rochardson, Rich Mellor and Tony Firshman did not attend. 3. Roy Wood gave a talk on saturday about Nasta's plans for his hardware (new Qubide, Goldfire etc), what the chipset and finance situations were, what Nasta's personal circumstances were (back in Croatia holding down 2 jobs apparently!) - virtually everyone there sat down to listen to Roy, so there was clearly interest there. 4. New product from Geoff Wicks, a program called Pin Down -described as "The fun way to remember your PIN codes. Generates rhyming phrases to help you rememebr any sequence of numbers between 1 and 10 digits long." 5. Quanta officers and committee voted in as proposed for the AGM. Chairman=John Mason, Secretary=John Southern, Treasurer=John Gilpin (also retains his other duties with the software library), Committee members=Roy Brereton, Geoff Wicks and John Gregory. Roy Brereton is acting as newsletter editor following the resignation of Paul Merdinian and Roy is appealing for articles for the newsletter, all contributions welcome. Quanta financial situation more healthy than had seemed to be the case a year ago. Consultations regarding insurance for the group as a whole and local sub-groups going on. Preparations for QL2004 well under way, and provided costs could be well controlled, it seemed liekly and desirable that a major event could perhaps be organised each year, possibly including some kind of 'family' arrangements to try to attract more families to the events. Possibilities discussed last year of newsletter going electronic unlikely to happen in short term at least, because of the fairly low number of the membership on email or with internet access at the moment. That's all I can remember for the moment! -- Dilwyn Jones - Original Message - From: Tarquin Mills <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, April 19, 2004 1:52 PM Subject: [ql-users] What happened at the AGM? > Whats is the news from Manchester? > > -- >Tarquin Mills > > Reboot Movement (An Anti-Wintel Campaign) > http://www.speccyverse.me.uk/comp/reboot/ > ___ > QL-Users Mailing List > ___ QL-Users Mailing List

Jochen - you'll love seaworld. was there about 10 years ago. Great! We arrived for the Shamu the Killer whale show, and wondered why all the good seats near the front were empty, and hadn't noticed the signed saying "splash area" on them!! We left absolutely soaked to the skin! Hehee, sounds like Jurassic Park. Looking forward to "Kraken" :-) Sorry I'm going to miss this one... Yeah, pity this. Cheers Jochen ___ QL-Users Mailing List

Unfortunately, those who told me about the errors had such a poor use of terminolgy I wasn't actually able to fully understand the nature of the error, let alone know how to fix it. It seems to revolve around a message saying something like 'you do not have access to this drive' or 'you are not authorised to access the medium in drive D:\' or something like that. I tried the CDs on a machine equipped with Win XP and QPC2 at the meeting, it seemed to work OK but quite clearly as three separate people reported what sounded like the same problem there must be an issue here, especially as all were using WinXP. While the errors they described sounded like deviuce or file sharing errors, I wonder if this might be a poorly phrased error message that indicated that the drive concerned couldn't read the CD? The CD is in ISO9660/Joliet extensions (i.e. used by Windows). Anyone got any idea what this issue might be? -- Dilwyn Jones ___ QL-Users Mailing List ___ QL-Users Mailing List

Hi Dilwyn, I have tested all the CD's we sell on Windows XP on my Celeron Laptop, and they all worked perfectly. I have never had anyone complain to me yet... I have also run all of them on Win ME and 98SE - same result. Dunno what the problem could be, unless its a fomat thing as you suggest. cheers, Darren Branagh, Bank of Ireland - Cards And Loans Business, Nassau House, 33/35 Nassau Street, Dublin 2. Ireland.
